Hi all. I have a series 2 TJ Advance with climate control. The problem i am having is the last few days, whatever i set the temp to, it is not right. I set it at 24 degrees and it is too cold so i go to 25 and it cooks me. I then turn it down to 17 but it is still hot. I have to belt the side of the console or the air vent area for it to come back to normal. Same can happen the other way too. Got it on 32 degrees and it is freezing me. Anyone got any ideas. It is driving me nuts and so is the missus whinging.

Though i dont have climate control myself, but it sounds like the computer within the climate control has gone bananas and needs replacing! Maybe you could try replacing the unit with one from the wreckers. i have seen a climate control completley removed from the colsole before. Just make sure when you ask any wreckers yards that you tell them your car is a 3rd gen if it is a TJ.

Hi Tee-Jay

Hmmm, so it comes good if you belt the side of the console. Check the relevant harnesses in that area. Unplug and reconnect them if you can. Hit them with some contact cleaner or WD-40.

If they are ok, then it certainly does sound like it's in the actual climate control unit. How are you with a soldering iron? If confident, try resoldering any dry solder joints you find. Careful not to bridge any.

kind regards
Blake

Thanks all and particularly Blake. I am handy with a soldering iron. I used to install alarms, cruise controls, reverse sensors, stereo's etc. I thought it might be something generic with these but it sounds like it might be a one off. I will check all the connections and if all else fails, dismantle the climate control and go right over it.
