Hey All Ok around this time last year i had a little bit of a crash (a stupid girl ran into the back on me) and since then my break lights havent worked, but the break light on the parcel shelf still lights up. The reversing lights still work and the tail lights still work and also the indercators still work just not the break light. i have checked the fuse which was fine so then I checked the points with a test light and they were also fine, so I then replaced the globes in one side but that didnt help at all.
What could this be and how can I fix it????
Thanks Paul

I check the voltage and continuity
with a volt meter
the switch is off until the pedal is depressed
when you apply the brake
the switch is turned on and you should get a 12 volt current
and that lights up the rear brake globes
you dont need the ignition on

INDICATOR
Seems that some need to use the spell check on these forums more often.
Check for power at the back of the car, if not, start with your brake pedal switch and work your way back

Firefox 2 has it built in :)
EDIT:
If the brake light on the shelf still works it cant be your pedal most likely the wires have been severed in the accident.

If power is getting to the socket, the globes may not be sitting in the holder correctly and making no contact. Also, if they are corroded it can cause it too ( have had that problem )

yep there are the 2 brake lights and we replaced both the globes in 1 of the tail light, once it didnt work i didnt waste any more money on 2 more globes.

I suggest you take the car down to an auto electrician. Having no brake lights is extremely dangourous.
