I had a quick search but couldn't find these details.
I have been quoted a couple of prices for 2 different tints and was wondering what the difference in overall looks are.
The first one is 35% plain black look and keeps out 40% of heat for $190 5 year warranty
The second is 35% reflective slightly mirrored black that keeps 60% of heat out for $240 lifetime warranty
My car is black and i was wondering if the mirrored type one will look less sleak than the plain black. The warranty thing worries me slightly but i doubt i will have this car after 5 years. The price difference isn't my concern, just the finished product looks and quality.
Any opinions will be appreciated. Atm I am leaning towards the plain black $190 option.

Go the slightly mirrored look and pay the extra dollars. Because with 35% tint ya wont really notice any difference. Find someone that will do 15% and that will look good on a dark car.

I got mine done in Fairy Meadow. 15% tint. He did an awesome job and its local for you as well. $300 was all he charged. It would look awesome on your car!!

Yeah your tint does look the goods, I'm a bit "scared" to go darker than legal. Did you get a warranty on the 15%?

No but he said if I had any problems with it, he would fix it up. He mainly does houses and office tinting but will also do cars. I've been pulled over at breatherlizers and random checks and never had a problem with it being so dark. It looks darker in the pictures because it was a cloudy day, they dont look as dark in direct sunlight.

Sounds good I'll go in and take a look at some samples, I'd prefer legal if it looks good enough, 15 or 20 is so damn tempting. Now it's a matter of talking mother into spending the extra $$ on me.

Just out of curiousity... what are the legal %'s? Mine's already tinted but is starting to look a little ragged and perhaps could be darker.

35% is meant to be the darkest legal you can go. I have had my last 4 cars at 20% with no issues ever. The cops don't even look at it. It looks better, blocks out more heat and also leaves you free to do "whatever" in your car coz no one can see you!

Thank you very much, definitely gives me something to think about.

In Nsw this is the legalities as i know it.
Rear and Back windows can have how ever dark you like.
But front windows should not be any more than 35%
Theres a pic of my 15%.

Incorrect, it's 35% all round (source (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi03_rev3.pdf)) if your car's newer than (or tinted after) 1994.
20% looks the bomb, but it's convenient being legal darkest. If you get a written defect for your tint, there's $200-$300 down the drain to have your windows redone. Plus there is a possibility of grief from your insurance company if you have an accident and they somehow blame it on the tint - the odds are small, but they're there.
I'm not a fan of mirrored tints. No matter what shade you're going, I personally would prefer a plain black tint.

I agree, the mirrored tint kinda looks "ricey" to me, makes your car look less classy. Whenever ive got funds im getting the tint re-done on my car, my mates mate had a look at a tear on my rear windscreen in the tint film and said its the old purple stuff no one uses anymore and said he can get me a discount at his brothers tint shop:cool: woot.
I heard an ad on the radio about $100 tints can't remember where though
although My windows aren't tinted I reckon it looks cool in the dark when the windows look blackish so I reckon I'll go get a tint when I get a new job! I'm between jobs at the moment which sucks!
