Just wondering how do you remove the strip with the air vents in that runs right across the dash (presume you'll know what i mean). search wasnt successful as i didnt know its name. i want to paint it... thanks

Basically the trick is in the 2 hidden wingnuts that you reach up behind the glovebox (that you have removed) to undo, and a couple of screws at the inst panel end. :)

oh ok thanks. id found the ones at the cluster end and assumed there were some at the other end just had no idea where

Basically, you have to remove the glovebox and the plastic behind it, then get your hand in up behind the air tubing; it's a tight fit. There are two wingnuts you have to find and undo back there, as well as the screws at the ends (can't remember much about them, see the service manual or wait for someone with more recent experience to come along, did mine a fair while ago)
