Ok I experience this when I do a very hard cornering manouevre at full throttle, the engine seems to just cut for a split second, very annoying.
I have a te auto. 2.4l
I have wide tyres at 225/50/16 and super low springs, so the car goes around corners no problem just sometimes when pushed real hard around corners it does this cutting out thing, anyone else experience this too??? :?

no but check Arun's post : http://www.nctd.com/review-drive.cfm?ReviewID=1188 . "Mitsubishi's traction control also includes what the company calls trace control, which is a simplified yaw-stability system. Sensors compare steering-wheel angle to vehicle speed, and a computer dials down engine power if the driver is in danger of exceeding the car's cornering grip. "
i get this sometimes when the tank is below 1/4 - pretty sure its fuel surge..
my magna is pretty bad for it :(

I'm pretty sure a TE magna would'nt have that in it as they don't have T.C. or a tracer system init, like the VR-X's do,prolly jus fuel surge,or ur injectors are dirty, like maybe they need a service 8)
it is a common problem to magnas and it happens often when you take hard right turns with your fuel tank 1/2 or less.
it happens to me all the time as near my house there's a nice turn which it's open wide and I enter fast while accelerating....... the engine then stops for 1 second....... it's very dangerous though as it's running lean
it must be from the inside of the fuel tank where the pump is sucking the fuel, when you turn hard, because of the big volume of the tank - the liquid is moving to the right or left leaving the tip of the sucking "pipe" in the air.
bad engineering.......
it was discussed in this topic as well:

  I don’t know what it is, But I can’t believe it’s fuel, coz fuel line is always under pressure .And this pressure is more than enough (I hope) + is hard for 6 or 4 injectors to stop working at the same time for 1 sec. Look this happen to Arun with ½ tank to some of U with ¼ or less. So maybe problem is somewhere else??

yes, it has happened before with less than 1/4 tank, 1/2 is usually okay, full is good. Some people say a FPR will solve this problem, but i haven't tried it yet, so i wouldn't know, maybe someone with a FPR can jump on here and make a stance.

Cliff it would be fuel surge, my 2.4 got it all the time under hard cornering.
Rev your right the fuel line is allways under pressure but surge is cause from the fuel being forced away from the pickup in the tank under hard cornering.
Imagine an ice cream container 1/5 full with water, when flat there is water in the centre where the pickup would be, now sway it back and forth this will simulate what happens to your fuel under hard cornering, you'll notice its starved in the middle.
When the fuel pickup is starved it picks up air instead of water which is why your motor dies suddenly then when it recieves fuel it gets going again.
Only solution is to keep ur tank above half way or install a fuel surge tank but then you need an external fuel pump etc. They are noise and you'll allways be able to smell fuel.

or you could try and get a RalliArt Magna fuel tank as it was baffled from factory to counter this problem :)

Yeh - same thing, when low in gas and hammering hard. Keep the tank fuller or get special racing tank as described before. Wonder how much would that kinda tank cost.....

You probably don't corner hard enough  ... The most effective way of solving this problem is to get a swirlpot/surge tank. It would mean you can drive the car as hard as you want (safely) even when down to 1/4 tank.

Thanks guys, I thought that was the problem, just checking, I wonder if a new tank is a good solution and at what price???

my tf does this aswell
especially when u hit a big roundabout at about 50, then half way through it blast the accelerator it just sortof dies.....very dangerous, and stops drift

scared the crap out of me when it first happened to me after i had the car for about a week. I thought i had a big problem on my hands.
In mine it only happens when cornering hard (which doesnt happen too often on stock suspension!) and i am nearly out of petrol (lots less than 1/4 tank, more like 1/6th)

Don't worry about changing your tank, no need.
Best thing to do is to install a swirl pot / surge tank in your boot with an external fuel pump. budget about 350 for the tank and pump. Works nicely but you can allways keep your tank above half way and thats a cheaper solution...

Hey 4PLEAZN, I have had my magna sideways in the dry, my tyres are 225 and its only a four cylinder, is that hard enough cornering for you???

Nah, he's talking about cornering playing in GT3 LOL :p :p :p
There are no Magnas in GT3
nor the upcoming GT4

I heard GT4 is not as good as GT3.... supposingdly the beta version is out but don't quote me, was talking about it with a friend 2 days ago..

check the tyres on my car, both me and 4pleazn have owned these tyres, there is no tread, and the rims have drift damage.

If I have time, I'll post up some pics of the tyres on my mums Magna, I took it one day cuase she wanted me to put fuel in it for her and just couldn't resist doing handbrakes (my handbrake didn't work at the time).
The tyres flexed so much that it was sliding almost on the stock wheels
The mistery is solved:
"Despite being billed by Mitsubishi as a world-first in its design and operation, the TCL system is pretty dumb - it has inputs only from the steering wheel angle, throttle position and wheel speed. One of the problems is the so-called Trace Control function of the TCL. This looks at the inputs and decides if you're trying to corner too fast. If the internal map suggests that you are, a fuel cut and the electronic throttle kill power. But there isn't a lateral or longitudinal G-sensor to tell the computer what the car is really doing, perhaps explaining the split personality. Fitting grippier tyres, hot or cold days affecting engine power, the presence of wet or dry roads - Gladys doesn't want to know anything about these"

Maybe I can ask the mitsu dealer to disable it at the next service

Heard on the radio the other day, they were actually selling demo versions of this game...what next...selling demo condoms so you can make sure it feels good before using the real item...people will cash in on anything these days :(
