Hi all
I would like correctly re-aim my headlights. Is there a technique for this or should I have it done by Mitsubishi with the jig? Measurements etc is what I'm after if anyone's successfully done it themselves
Appreciate any suggestions.
cheers

the easiest home method of doing this, is to park your car squarly towards a flat / smooth wall, at a distance of about 2meters away from the wall.
put your lights on and open the bonnet, on each headlight assy there will be a couple of for lack of better word 'knobs' that can be turned.
one will adjust the horizontal angle, the other will adjust the verticle (left and right) angle.
make small adjustments on each side, and take the car for a drive.
noting how often you get flashed by other drivers along the way for them thinking the lights are aimed too high / high beams.
the knobs dont need to be turned that much either for adjustment, which is why you make small adjustments and then test drive for other driver blindness vs what you can see.
obv dont turn them so they point RIGHT into other drivers eyes...
hope that helps in some way :)

Thanks for that. Knowing where the adjustments are and the effect they have is a great start.

Hmm if people start flashing you they are way too high. Adjust them until they are a bit below the horizon, but still a decent range. Compare to other cars to get an idea. I think if you search around on here or on the web, there are actual measurements you can do against a wall, like the light should cut off a certain height etc etc.

Hi Opilot
Thanks for that. Measurements would be ideal. I'll have a scout around

Check out http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html for aligning headlights (US site so beam patterns are reversed)
It's worth having a read through Heath Youngs headlight FAQ, which appears to have been deleted from the forums... but a copy is available here - http://web.archive.org/web/20070313080607/http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23184

sorry to threadjack but I have the same problem but this is on high beam. How do I adjust the beaming height? My low beam is perfect just high beam which sits almost as low beam

Gorgath, the lights are always adjusted on high beam, the low beam will look after it's self when dipping.

do you have a similar sized car to compare to? line that car up, mark where the lights fall, then repeat with your car

Thanks for your helpful links and suggestions. I'll tackle this one soon, once I have looked over those links provided by Harty. Pablo I never realized the adjustment was referenced on high beam. Thanks again

Ok
My passenger side headlamp is not the original. Lined it up on a level surface using a tape measure.
Heaps better now!
