I purchased one of those $15 driving light kits from Super Cheap, I have most of it worked out except for one wire. On the wiring guide it says it goes to "HI BEAM (+)", assuming that's the positive wire for the high beams (durrr) but I don't know which wire to hook it to in the dashboard.
Is there any simple way to identify the high beam positive wire? Can it be linked to another power source as long as the operator of the lights follows road law and only uses them in the right situation? (since i'm guessing the Hi-beam wire is to only allow them to operate with the high beams on)
Out there working on it now, cheers in advance.

Yeh, that is to only allow them to function with the Hi Beams on. Just hook them up to your accessories line and chuck a switch in. That way you can use them when you want but can't leave them on over night. Much more convinient.

Light in my ashtray's broken lol but cheers for the tip.
I had already run another accessories wire to cater for door courtesy lights, so I just ran it off those. Works like a charm. :)

for petes sake, please please hook them into the HIGH BEAM only circut. There are laws about the brightness of low beam globes for a reason, so please dotn add to the plethora of rice boys and SUV driving yuppie tossers drivign about with fog/driving lights on in urban areas all the time!!!
Its REALLY annoying and blinding to the rest of us! Please.

Err... I should mention these are not on constantly, controlled independently of the other lights by a switch control. What i'm guessing here is you all think they're hard wired to the constant line therefore being on all the time? How absurd! lol
I have no intention to use these on the roads, more so for show purposes if anything. I ended up using Colas' suggestion, a manually controlled push button switch mounted into the underside of the dashboard that operates independently of any other circuit. (which was included in the kit, forward thinking)
Of course, if there is another problem with even this setup, I would be more than obliged to change it. :)

No, i thought you may want to drive around town with them as a low beam supplement, like people do with their foglights.
Its a huge pet hate of mine - sorry for the rant!

No problem, I forgot to mention the switch control beforehand so it's a simple mistake. I know what you mean as well, low beams on then 2 bloody massive fog lights... argh. lol

I too use a switch to turn em on and off and only use them when necessary.
My switch is in the din pocket.

I've only recently bought Lucifer's Diamante bar which has driving lights and the switch he has supplied for me is in the panel on the right of the steering wheel that would normally house the factory cruise control. Should work pretty good for me as the button's that are there aren't connected to anything. Not sure how easy it is to get to that panel or whether yours is currently in use but it sounds like a good idea to me.

i no that there is a switch for it but i thought you were asking about the which relay swithing feed to connect it up to. by law they are supposed to be hooked up to parkers but when the low/high beams are on, they turn off.

I'll take another look into it, I may need to redo that wire soon anyway. I would rather leave it as is but if it really is a problem, i'll take another look.
Just hope I don't need to feed the wire back through the firewall... :doubt:

Incorrect they are suppossed to be connected to high beam only. But not alot actually are.

Incorrect, at least in Qld. The Qld Transport Motor vehicle modifications booklet (http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/file/eb57c508de5dea8/Modification_jan05v2.pdf) states that the lights may only be operable with a minimum of parkers active; ie., you can't switch them on without having at least your parkers on.
Personally I would only ever use them in adverse conditions anyway (the requirement for use of fog lights; driving lights seem to classify as a second set of headlights).
