View Full Version : Which RJR Linear Wheels?

Thinking of replacing my current AU Racing wheels with RJR Linear wheels.
I think the Linears look more classy on a Verada than my current wheels.
Will retain the 18" diameter but can't decide between the finish (Chrome or Hyper Black)?

The Linears should look something like this on my Verada:

So what do you guys think, Chrome or Hyper Black?
Not a poll option but i think your current rims look better.

Oh and for those forum members who have these wheels on their 3rd Gens:
- what's the offset like?
- do the wheels stick out past the guards?
- is there any scrubbing?
- i believe the wheels are 8" wide?
Thanks

Buzzi has 19" Chrome Linears on his VRX... Sling him a pm.
I like the Hyper Black ones better but thats me.

Very hard choice. I think both will look tops, the chrome will give it an excited look, and the hyper black will give it a hidden attraction type look, as if it doesn't need to prove that it's hot because it already is. I think with you current mods the hyper black will suit better, maybe if you're car was stock you might need to compensate by adding chrome, but you car is top shelf and needs nothing over the top.
Long story short, i choose hyper black.
This took me 30minutes to type as i kept changing my choice and reasoning haha!

Definitely the hyper black. I'm not a huge fan of chrome wheels in general so something a little more understated and classy would be the way to go. My 17" Advanti Predators have pretty much the same finish but they call it hyper chrome. Whatever you want to call it, it'll look great.
Hyper Black.

Dude, Hyper Black is the way to go - the stealth approach speaks volumes

Just a note....
I had a bad experience with RJR wheels...
My current set of wheels had to go back 7 times to get balanced then tney found 2 were OUT OF ROUND! They were bought brand new about 18 months ago...
The clear coat started peeling after about 6months... no chemicals were used and my brake pads dont dust the wheels... all rims have quite a few 20-50c sized chunks where the clear has come off and getting worse everyweek.
They have not one scratch or gutter bash to start the peeling. But does have the odd stonechip (thats unavoidable) with no peeling around it?????
If you do go ahead with this brand of wheel then i suggest you watch them balance the wheel yourself for wobble, all those tyrefitters do is what the machine tells them. if it can be compensated with weight they just do... But you still get the vibrations as the wheel bounces along the road! I'm so picky now because of incompetent tyrefitters!
The amount of loose wheelnuts is pathetic!

Black, chrome is a pet hate of mine:P
Though with a nice spoke design they aren't so bad.

I have the Hyper Black Linears on my 97 KF Ei Verada. I really like them. I have only had mine a few months, and I haven't found any problems with them. I did manage to scrape the front passenger side one a little when I took it to Sydney, but apart from that no problems whatsoever.
They do stick out past the guards slightly, but it's not too noticeable. No scrubbing either.
I love them, I think they look really nice on the Verada!

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. You've just made my choice harder as i was going for chrome initially lol
I think i'll just go down to Bob Jane tomorrow and get them to put both wheels against my car and i'll go from there.
BTW, my current rims will be up for sale if i go with these RJR rims

personally, im not a huge fan of mega chrome everywhere - its nice to accent things with but too much and it just gets too much.
i think the darker rims will still give class but also give it the sporting edge that goes with the supercharge too.

hey, i have a set of these mags on my car and i have never had any problems since i bought them. mine are 19" and 8.5 if that makes a difference, also i have never had a problem with scrubbing and i also have the car lowered on king lows. either way both mags i feel will look good on your car, i only went chrome because my car is black. Here are some pics anyway:

Haha i knew you'd say that :P
Anyways i'm getting the RJR Linears in Hyper Black fitted up at lunchtime today. Chrome would be harder to maintain so Hyper Black wins in the end.

nooooo go the chrome, or hyper silver if its available.
i'm probably too late but the machined lip/dark spokes is 'so last week'.
Not too mention the chrome rims would fit nicely with your sill protectors, door handles and tail light surround....

lol dude if machined lip/dark spokes is 'so last week' then chrome is so last century lol
machined lip/dark spokes is whats in atm chrome makes the cars look cheap but some dark cars like buzzi's pulls it of.

the rims mohit has chosen look good in chrome - its a classic, enduring look. The black spokes/machined lip is a fad, which is why it didn't last long.
THIS is bad chrome:

are these wheels under a budget u got urself into? if it's not, i'd suggest going to B-BOSS wheels, they've got some awesome looking wheels they're selling, like the more popular elanores that i've seen on heaps of 3rd gens and commodores.. but my mate got a set of sylvia's and they look awesome on his vx ss.. reason i'm saying this is coz most of B-BOSS wheels are machined, not chrome- and they look 10 times better than chrome IMO

B Boss Sylvia's look good, they just need some dish! Same as eleanor and the rest of their stuff. Gutter rash would completely deface those rims.
