Hi all
i just took my car in for its 250,000 km service and the mechanic found a hole in the flex joint along the exhaust. I've been quoted about $200 for it to be replaced does this seem about right for labour and parts. The car is a 98 TF wagon.

That price is bollocks. If was a commodore or falcon it would be near half that price. Tell him to have another guess. Allowing an hour labour and the flex bellow about 50 retail, UNLESS he's quoted to remove and replace that whole bolt up section from cat-to-axle or axle-to-tips. In that case 150-200 is normal range for that. As the client it's also upto you if you want just the flex done or the complete pipe section replaced. I assume you mean the rear flex joint near the axle in which case it might be prudent to replace your rear muffler if it's a stock item rather than need to do it in the near future - assuming that he's quoted you to replace the rear exhaust section incorporating the flex and rear muff.
