Ok since my other thread went outta hand and it ended up 5pages... Im trying to basicly roll to the closest as possible to the problem, Mitsubishi is the only mechanic's I trust that come but with a $90/hour look :S and I dont think they are the type of corner mechanics that tell you this and that is broken and at the end the problem isnt even fixed. :(

If you have a mechanical friend and woudlnt mind telling him the problem im having and see what he thinks.. I would be very greatful.

I will tell you exatcly what happen, see if you know what the problem is...

1. I notice a slump/jerk when the car jets off from parking but that was all.

2. Few days later, The car made a loud noise in the morning when I was going to pay bills, cant describe the sound but proberly a belt sound but it was something like AEEEERREERERERERE... Wind down windows, thinking WTF, turn off car, turn back on and car didnt that noise, went to pay my bill then got back in car and havent ever that noise again.

3. Week later, I lifted the hood up to check engine oil level... thats when I notice the Chattering/whistling Noise :S Next morning dianoise noise and yeah it seems louder from a cold start but after driving it isnt as loud.

4. I was going at 60, was about to go forward a bit before i swtich lanes and hit the pedle to metal and it didnt power jerk :S
Just speed just up speed normally like I was hitting pedle to the metal but maybe 70-80%.. lost of power :S So I drove at 10km/h then hit the peddle, just a little jerk and feels like going up speed but not fast as it use too and its slower..

When I got the car 2 months ago, Always when going at 10km/h then hit the pedle to the metal, It would go up speed smoothly then 2 sec later, it jerks and speeds up like anything.... Now it only feels like it speeds up smoothly without the jerk and power.. I would say i lost 25% acceleration power.

So Basicly:
Loud cold start up.
Little Jerks/slumps when driving. Lost of acclerating power.
Chattering/whistling noise idle I think or maybe driving too.. cant tell since im not out of car or hanging on boot when driving
Unsmooth idle (virabates a tiny bit.. but you can tell engine isnt smoothly idleing)

Picture
Not my car.. but just to show you. The green circle was my ruff look over where the sound was coming from and the red circle was my 15min listen and the noise seems to come from around where the red is.

vinh, i know im the last person u want a reply from haha

but i still think it needs its main service. driven belt to be replaced and all belts tightened etc. by what you have said it hasnt had this service b4 so either way you need it

Timebelt I must do and will do but im with no money now :( My mum is the only resort of money but I cant afford to ask her for money. Im thinking what if i change timebelt and engine is a ****ed up engine and dies a week or two later :S

Im thinking timebelt is making the noises too... but then again would that cause car to be unsmooth with unsmooth idle (virabates a bit) and little slump / jerk when driving?

maybe your engine mounts? mine is starting to shake now and my mechanical mate said its a broken engine mount (magnas have a tendancy to do this)

Mounts... Would this cause small slumps/jerks, lost in acceleration power??

id say it would cause a loss because it wouldnt be puttin the power to the wheels properly...i think i have got this problem too....it will definately feel like you get small jerks etc

when i broke the engine mount, i didnt notice any 'abnormal' behavour from gbm.. it was only when it went into a service then they realsied a potential major problem :(

Get your timing belt done ASAP if its due and has not been done. Serious engine damage can occur to a lot ohc motors if belt lets go or jumps teeth as valves can stay open when pistons come up causing big bang if it's not a free running motor.
If the belt has jumped your valvetrain timing will be out (retarded)causing loss of power, poor idle possibly idle hunting(revs going up and down)
Not sure if the v6's are free running will have to check.
T'belts should be religiously changed every 100k or 6 yrs or something as the belts stretch and perish, also have the tensioner and idler pulleys checked while its apart as the bearings could be noisey or the auto tensioner could have failed. Maybe get your plugs checked too if they are the platinum type they need to be done every 100k .Takes a bit of work though as the inlet manifold needs removing to do the rear bank

actually in the TH service manual it says that its 75,000ks, or 3 years.. then it also says 100,000ks.
Im gonna wait till the 100,000k service to do mine..

Wow yeah lost of power, rough idle.. sounds about right.

timing belt goes kaput, pistons smack valves, valves go crunch, compression goes kaput or possibly cylinder undergoes massive detonation/pinging from bits of the valve......... basically, it's not pretty... When it happens, you'll definately know it's happened, but by then you can expect extensive and expensive repairs =/

I think I mentioned it before in the messed up thread.. not sure.. Can't even remember what goes on these days... Get someone to actually look at it this time around on the cruise!
