hey there i have a manual magna its 93 manual V6 stationwagon(5sp). i guess its not common car that was sold. i would not have bought it if it wasnt manual anyways. the car is great and goes well, but i am having trouble getting 5th gear to go it like i have to shove it in hard. and teh problem is getting worse, other gears seem to be ok. i was wondering if anybody knew what the problem might be.
anyhelp would be apreciated.

Are there any grinding noises or feeling through the gearstick when you try engage 5th?

If not, could be a problem with the shift linkages.

I hear that change of transmission oil may help, do you know the last time when this was done?

hey there the problem just got worse. about 30 min ago. i was driving home, to melboune. and i heard noise and then i heard it again and then i heard a few things fall on the road, when i got home i saw lots of oil and a big round metal washer with a thread on the inside, hexagon shaped on the outside. i guess im up from transmission rebuild, or second hand one, does anybody know someone i can get one from in melbourne , im in the south east, or from anybody else in melbourne, or someone that will rebuild one not too dear. i know these manual boxes fro 93 magnas are not too common for these cars. regards brian

sorry to hear mate, you should be able to find a second hand gearbox at a mitsu spares shop or local wreckers. 2nd Gen manuals shouldnt be too hard to locate.

there are a few local 2nd geners in melb that should be able to help you find a used gearbox somewhere, maybe make a post in the melb or 2nd gen section.

make sure the gearbox you buy is for a v6 too.

hey there, yeah i managed to source a transmission from a place in dandy, luckily. the usual magna wreck places didnt have any. only auto ones. hopefully all goes well, i will call though, up again to make sure it is for a V6 3.0 manual. regards brian
