I'm hoping someone here may have experienced this before, my antenna has been playing up, it happened to be about a month ago. what happened was, it randomly come ups or randomly comes down (happened for one day), then it stopped coming up after that for 3 weeks or so, then last Thursday night it came up, then went down when i turned the engine off, didn't come up again all that night, then on Friday morning, it came up only to come back down again straight after and hasn't come up since. Any one with and experience like that?
i have changed by head unit prior to all this happening, but it was working fine for a few months before it happened. i have checked the wire connections and they look alright.
Have you properly insulated all the connections? Sounds like it might be earthing somewhere along the remote line. I'd redo the connection from the headunit first, make sure its clean, then go about pulling the boot lining out and checking all the connections to the antenna motor, along with the earths. Is the reception any worse than it used to be?

no antenna = no reception
all wires seems alright, i mean when it started playing up, i didn't touch anything, i just happened. i do however may need to get a soldering iron to it but all connects seems alright. i have however ripped out the boot lining and had a look in there with a multimeter a couple of weeks back and there didn't seem to be a reading of power to the motor.
Theres a couple of things that come to mind from that. Theres an earth up the top of the mast which grounds the antenna from the body of the car, if thats moved and the body is directly touching the antenna itself you'll have problems, thats whats up with mine atm.
Did you use the multimeter to check for power when you turned the car on and off, when the motor would normally be extending and retracting the mast? Could be something as simple as a dirty connection, might be worth disconnecting everything, cleaning it out and connecting it back up.

when you turn the key on and off...does the motor still work and only the mast not going up and down?
i have had it a few times when the end of the rope snapping off and caused alot of problems

no motor at all, its like i didn't connect the headunit to the antenna, but i have... it worked for a while then decides to stop, checked the connect, all the same, still still work, then randomly one night it comes up, goes down when i turn the key off then haven't really come up since.

could be the relay on the antenna itself or some dodgy connection or earth there

maybe it has erectile dysfunction... :bowrofl:
I'd say its your dodgy wiring if you are sayings thats its not the motor, go through it all again and make sure it isn't shorting itself out. Also, are the fuses still intact?

Maybe you should give it some non-evasive nasal treatment
