looks good mate well done!
2 cans of carby cleaner really works well with a dirty motor, well that and a wire brush.
also gave the intake ports a clean down with the carby cleaner too.
I'll get a better pic of the tranny when i cbf but yeah looks nice and silver :D

Mate! That engine's looking real nice!
It's going to look awesome when fitted.

After you take the old engine out... Are you going to give the engine bay a similar treatment (Clean/Paint)? Would be a shame to have to rush the removal/refit part after spending so much time/effort on getting the engine looking like this.

yeah when engine comes out ill pretty much just be giving it a clean, thats all it really needs. (covered in oil residue pretty much everywhere)
Dont think ill be painting anything, ill be happy if its just clean.
Thats what my karcher is for:P

Ooh that's really nice man, great job on the whole thing :D.
What type of paint did you use to do the calipers?
I'd like to do something easy like that.

looks all nice and shiny and new !!

how long do you give it until you get tired of constantly cleaning the dirt and stuff off the tranny casing from when your driving it?
thats the only downside to clean / freshly painted bits on a car esp in the engine bay... they dont stay that way for long! lol

gotta go the whole hog now and make sure that when the motor goes in, that the rest of the engine bay matches up to the good work youv done here

Wow, very nice piece of machine. Have you ever thought of chrome plating it instead of painting? Bling bling:D

Thanks for that mate, sometime when I have a fair bit of free time I might have a go at doing the front or rear, when I also figure out how to get the darned things off lol, never tried anything past taking the whole wheel/tyre off.

Thanks for the tip.
Got 2 cans of that so yeah i'll give her a few coats.
Doing the brake calipers and rotors are a piece of piss
1. take wheel off (have car on stands of course)

2. Brake cleaner and wire brush - go the hack - make sure you use brake cleaner....

3. Once its all nice and clean get the hairdryer out to get rid of any excess brake cleaner

4. Do calipers first, as paint will get on the rotor behind it in really hard spots, so this way you do tha rotor last and its alot easier.

5. Tape up areas you dont want painted i.e. dust shield

6. Use hairdryer in between coats

7. Once the caliper is done, give it 15-20 minutes to dry fully - or use a heatgun, cover that up and then do one side of the rotor, once one side of the rotor is done, Put the car in N, and turn the rotor around, and repeat

End result (sorry about the crap pic)

BTW Magtech - I'm not made of money!!! Although in the US I have seen a chrome dipped transmission the cost of getting it done would be plain out stupid

Why the hell did my thread title get changed i called it that FOR A REASON

Actually you will be able to see it, which is why i did it.
As you know the 2nd gen has that crap air intake off to the side, which, when the 3.5L goes in will all be getting pissed off. replacing it will be a nice chrome pipe doing straight down to the bumper.
So everything above the transmission will be visible.
Hey its not a professional job but for a 15yo POS it'll look better then the oily crap thats in there now :)

easiest way to do that would be to change the final drive. IIRC the 380 has a shorted diff ration to the 3rd gens. Would make a good track ratio for the track boys.:D
