View Full Version : Factory Pipe Size on KE Verada
Quick question guys, I'm looking at fitting a VRX muffler which still has I think they call the flange on it, so its bolt on. What I need to know is the size of the factory pipes that run through the car, are they 2.5", 2.25" or something else?
If anyone knows please post up, I'll go past a exhaust place tomorrow anyway if need be to find out.
Cheers.

2.4, save your money and just do the muffler
If you did see a gain from changing the pipe it wouldn't be noticeable

Thats saved me a lot of effort, thanks man. So being bolt on from the same point the factory muffler and so on is fitted, it should just go straight on? or will I need to modify it somewhat to make it fit?

nope it will bolt straight on, just need 3 new bolts, loctite and a new gasket (4 bucks). Same with the AL4-5597 (i think) bolts straight on justs needs fresh bolts and your laughing.

VRX muffler wont go onto your KE without modification. Because the VRX has a straight tip and not a dumpy tip it wont fit under the bumper.

I know nothing about 3rd gens BUT doesnt the VRX have a lower bumper? And has the hole cut out anyway? Thats what i THOUGHT anyway...

Just cut the tip off before it's installed then get a nice stainless steel tip welded on
I got a TL VRX exhaust installed yesturday.
The exhaust fit fine but it rubbed the body, the guy put it on a bracket which lowered it about an inch.
The pipe after the muffler is a 2 and 1/2 pipe, he had to stretch the stock 2 and 1/4 inch over it and it worked fine.
In regards to the flange, he said that the 2 and 1/2 flange would be too big for the standard 2 and 1/4 gasket... he used the standard flange instead.
Before you ask, i dont like the dump tip, i think this way looks much nicer

Well i got a TJ Sports exhaust on my KJ and the flange on it was exactly the same size as my KJ exhaust and bolted straight on without any of those shinanigans . I think he pulled some BS on u, because all 3.5L 3rd gens have the same size stock piping.

TL VR/X's (not sure if its the whole line up) on run 2.5" right through, Omars exhaust and the one I was looking at are off TL VRX's.

Im not talkin bout the outlet tip. The flange, inner piping etc is exactly the same in all 3.5L. TJ/TL/TW VR-X and sports/VR mufflers only differ in the way that the muffler is straight through.

well he ended up using my flange anyway so it's not like he did a shifty on me... besides, i went to midas in the morning, the guy quoted me $120 and said "Really difficult job, need custom work"... i went to Mr Muffler and the guy said "$66 easy, i'll have it ready in 2hrs" so yeah, he didn't seem like he ripped me off or used any of that crazy mechanic talk
... although he did say there was a unicorn in my exhaust that needed immediate attention
