is anybody running these tyres on a magna!?
or is anybody running a 30series at all on a magna? im getting new tyres finally so my wheels will fit back on and im getting cold feet about that size tyre coz it looks dangerous for a magna.!
i was running 245/35 and cut my bumpstops (coz i was on blocks) and then realised the springs had an extra 3/4 inch drop before travel in them and therefore was scrubbing on the tubs pretty bad. so i need significantly smaller tyres

225/30 really isnt a good size to run due to the load rating. These tyres tend to have a load rating of 85. Magnas need a load rating of 95 to be legal. Such a low load rating "can" be an accident wating to happen, the Magna is a large car, and a 85 rating is much more suiter to smaller cars.
Next, 225/30 gives a smaller rolling diamter than the stock 16s, whereas 225/35 gives pretty much excatly the same as the stock 16s.
All that aside, i did run 225/30s for a while, and had no major issues. Ofcourse you feel every bump in the road, but, if you can put up with that, then there ok.
If I was to do it again however, I would go for a 35 profile, just to bring that little extra comfort into my ride.

I only just recently got new tyres fitted on the fronts at the correct load rating for a 96 magna which is a rating of 95 mine are 245/30 R20 they fit like a glove n are legal which is the big thing.

225/30r20 on mine....Makes it legal for my car. Stock with 15s.
After having 35 profile for a while then goin to 30 i really cant say it rides any different, just gotta be extra careful of big holes, but u already having 20s will be used to that.

Might not be legal if you factor in all the stats, ie, rim width, or, more importantly, changes in track.
Anyway, what brand are the tyres ? Seems to be tricky to find 245/30s with 95+ rating. Im sure many members here would appreciate it.

yeah sweet so there is a few that have em. i was worried about the load rating aswell, they writing will be grinded off straight away so i can just claim they are load rated anywayslol but seems no ones have blown out have they? jsut watch the potholes like usual
normally would put stockies on for 300k+ trips so shouldnt need to worry about that.
getting the high quality nankang tyres. lol, just to see how the size goes and how much more room i have to play with.
yeah mine has 15's stocks so i think it will acaully end up being 3mm under OD instead of 33m over which will be a nice change

I'm running as well on 225/30R20 and I have no problem at all on city driving that is. I myself have questions on running this tyres on such as long driving hence I asked eveyones opinion. But other than that, as everyone mentioned above, just a little bit bumpy and avoid potholes.

How does a 225/30R20 on a car that came with 15s make it legal? You still require tyres
with 95+ load rating and track changes of no more than 25mm (an offset difference of no
more than 12.5mm). What offset are you using as you need to keep the tyres inside the
guards as well.
BTW. Have driven my boss' HSV Grange on 19s and don't like the rough ride especially on
long journeys on B roads. Got sore lower backs after driving for 2 hours.
Also having such large wheels with thin tyres puts more wear and tear on the suspension
components and the rest of the car.

Not sure on the rules u have in SA but here rolling diamater cant be more or less than 15mm over standard.
not sure on the offset of the rims i have now but they sit well inside the guard. Alot more than some peoples 17s and 18s on here.
My car got taken over the pits and defected for my old rims which had a 35 profile tyre on them, was told to get a 30 profile tyre and it would be legal. this is coming from 3 RTA mechanics.

Also, what is the load rating of your tyres? Need to be at least 95. According to my
research, 235/30R20 tyres only have a load rating of 88 and 225/35R20 only has a load
rating of 90. You need to go to 245/35R20 before getting 95 load rated tyres.

My tyres Are Nangkangs 245/30ZR20 95Y Ultra sport NS-II. I got them from my local Good year auto care guy. I need 2 new fronts so i could get a safety cert done on the car for rego, and i asked for the ones i already had which where 225/35 n he said that they where wrong and where well below the load rating and wanted to make sure i got the right tyres with the right load rating. He was the most hlepful guy ive had with my car in a long time. oh and they arnt cheap they where $290 each fitted. Hope that healps some peeps.
Cheers Dno.
