Is it possible?

What are we talking money wise (excluding the cost of the engine)?

How much work would need to be done to the Mounts?

Could you use a 2nd gen manual Gbox or auto 6cyl gbox?

Possible complications?

Anyone attempted this in a second gen?

What would u need to do bout the FWD/AWD issue?

Cheers, Brad

6A13 engine is the wrong way around.

Try a 4G63T FWD conversion from a GSR or VR4.

4G63 is almost a direct bolt in for a four cylinder magna, you've got SFA chance of getting the AWD going though, and why bother in such a car anyway. You'll be able to get a 4G63 FWD manual gearbox fairly cheap anyway.

Someone did this conversion with a first gen... his name starts with S and ends with a G...

Gearbox is on the opposite side to the second gens, it shares the same layout as a third gen magna. Like I said... 4G63T from an early 90's galant VR4 will fit, or go a 6G72 DOHC Head motor from a Diamante/3000GT.

Details on all of these conversions have been covered excessively in the past, use the search etc...

what luke said is right

any AWD conversion would be stupidly expensive as you have no rear wheel driving at the moment at all... custom tailshafts, diffs, axles... i would hate to think how much it'd cost

Or if you can find a wrecked 3000GT - Hello AWD 2nd gen

lol tbh a 6A13TT wouldnt be much harder to fit if performing an awd conversion.

But if using the fwd platform and you're not a superstar.... lol.

Ps 4g63T

Cheers, guys. It's still along way from reality, just dreaming and sceeming at the moment. Hopefully early 2010 :P hahaha need to build the funds, source the parts (which will obviously take a lot more time than first thought) and then we'll see.

no worries mate.

Its not an ideal car to work with really. I'm only modding mine as im getting trained via uni and by myself and i don't have the money to upgrade...

Not much to lose money wise though if you stuff up so a good car to learn on.

True i get that a lot... but i have a sweetspot for this car... i can't explain it :P. But all the same, i wanna do something real special with it and keep it for as long as i can. hahaha

So the 4G63 bolts up into the 4-cyls? Interesting... :)

*adds 4G63 to the wreckers list* :P

lol glad to see everyones taking a little something from this thread.

For the sake of being shunned (though i doubt my questions could get any stupider) how about a 4G93, will that bolt in?

No i have that too. I just was letting you know how much you'd have to like your car to bother.

Don't even bother with the NA version, makes less torque than the Astron. Torque is what you need to get that whale of a second gen body moving. Then some Horsepower to keep it moving :bowrofl:

Hahahahaha go the 1.8L GDI engine one... Good luck finding a wrecked Mitsubishi Dingo here :P

Not worth it then, I could put the turbo version in, but then I wouldn't be able to drive it legally for another year or so (until i'm on full license).

unless you get a letter from your boss saying you need the car for work (what i currently have to drive the xr5t) you could always think about the 6a12TT it should fit as its the right way around. If not we know that the 6g72 DOHC fits so shoehorn that in with 2 turbos, wire up an aftermarket ecu, custom exhaust and some bigger injectors and your laughing.
