I was looking at some TJ - TW taillights and wanted to know if they'd fit a TF Magna or would I have to change the boot as well?
I notice the TF tailights have a kink in them, where as the TJ+ tailights are straight on the side, so I think that may be an issue.
Thanks! :D
They will fit the body just fine, but not the boot lid, will need to be changed to a TJ-TW bootlid.

you need to change the boot over to TJ one for them to fit and im sure that also means changing the back bar too..
So to fit TJ-TW lights on TE, TH
You need TJ Boot and rear bumper.

Damn, so the boot & bumper, just for the taillights. Don't know if it's worth it. If I can pick up a nice set in white at the wreckers I will, otherwise I buy something else for my car.
Thanks for your help guys.

Im in the process of doing the TJ boot conversion on my TF, you dont need a TJ Bumper, i picked up a new boot yesterday for $100, just looking for some TJ tail lights now.
What are you actually driving anyway? Your profile says a KJ? Where did this TF come from lol

lol Do you really need to ask Lugo?
Adz. As said earlier you can run the later tail lights but you need a bootlid (TJ). If you decide to run a TL lid you will need a TL bar. Remember also that TL lids have no provision for a lock and key as they are done by remote. I would be interested in seeing some pics when you have finished! Ahh the nostalgia...

adz89, has Type40's old TF... that thing was a machine and a bit, testimony of Mitsubishi's engineering.

there are only 3 ways of opening the TL boot, properly....
1. button on remote
2. button in glove box
3. pull a handle thats connects to the boot lock around the ski hatch area.

You don't NEED a TJ boot to have TJ tail lights, but it does look alot better with the right boot :).

no, you will need it because there are different lines and contours that run horizontally in the TE-TH boot which matches up with the lights, in comparision, it would look like a VZ clubby body kit fitted onto a VT, the lines are just wrong.

I'm saying there's a difference between needing it because it physically wont fit and need because it looks crap ;).

Hmm, now I don't know if I should go TL or TJ boot? Maybe TW VR-X (tinted) tailights if I could find them with a TJ bumper. Or maybe Verada tailights.
I will definitely send you some pics when its done mate!

Good Luck with finding TL/TW VRX tails. Bargain price of ~$600 each. You'd be better off renting one for the weekend, swapping the tails with standard ones and just hope they don't notice lol

To The Op, you should only take TJ for boot lid as the TL bootlid will require you to change the bumper.
As for tail lights if originals, the TL beats hands down. If after markets its up to your taste but the tinted ones I will not recommend.
MAKE sure you the the wire loom if you going for after market tail lights as they dont come with it.

I would go the TL boot. The TJ is the worst looking of the 3 different designs in my opinion. But thats just personal taste! Lugo is right about the VRX lights too. They are as dear as poison. There are some tinted ones on ebay that dont look too bad and for around $200 a pair. Pics would be good too when you are done! I miss the old girl...

i'm surprised that no one has questioned the price of the TL/TW VR-X tail lights, being $500ish-$600 mark for each side.... but it is true, they are that price, don't believe it, ask a dealer...

Wow, it's interesting how the rear on the TL/TWs make the TE-THs rear look so ancient. lol
Kudos to MMAL for keeping the styling fresh for so long.

As much as the pic says it, I have to say this DID NOT work for my TE, and it did not allow my boot to close properly without breaking the new tail lights. Maybe some adjustments are needed.
just my 2cents buy the proper boot lid.
