The air con in my car is pretty foul and I heard somewhere that there is a filter somewhere near the passenger side front area that you can either replace or spray with air freshener to fix it. Anyone know where this is and how to access it?

i've also heard of a story where a drunk person had their head out of the sunroof whilst car was driving, got sick from the motion and vomited down the windscreen, vomited flowed to the bottom of the windscreen to where the aircon vents are and got stuck in them, apparently, the smell won't leave that car, so i have heard....

Here is an easy fix. Set your HVAC to fresh and crank the fan flat out. Get some Glen 20 and spray liberally down the intake between the 2 wiper arms on the cowl. You may need to repeat this a couple of times but i have done this in the past and it has worked a treat. The smell comes from some sort of fungal build up within the A/C due to moisture. There are products out there that are specific for dealing with this but i have found Glen 20 to do a reasonable job. See how you go.

Where can I buy this airo fresh stuff? I haven't seen it before at autobarn or supercheap but then again I haven't specifically been looking out for it!

I'll grab some over the weekend if I can find it and give it a go. Thanks for the help guys.

The smell is from moisture buildup and bugs growing. I'll bet you very often run your A/C in the 'recirculate' mode. Doing this decreases fresh air pulled through the system. As suggested, turn the air-con off, turn off re-circulate and just use the fan at full power for a number of days to dry it out so the bugs die.
