couple of things,
1) do you realsie how big 10.4 inches is?
2) better of spending money on quality components than car pc stuff

Trav has hit it spot on... Car PC's are nice, but if your speakers aren't that great then you won't experience the full potential of it, that said, I still prefer using an iPod to a CarPC, so much easier.

7-8" touch screen tops too, 10.4" is huge.

Perhaps 1 good sub to use the 1000WRMS?
Also mabye an amp for the fronts.

If it was me I would amp the fronts and fix them up properly ( deadening etc ). :D

In defence of the car PC, there is much more to it than good sound. I don't for a second regret spending $1000 on the Car PC, versus on audio or rims or lowering.

And as the others have said, 10.4" is HUGE. Would look good though.

only just replaced the fronts and rears with the JBL Splits and the sony 6x9's
been quite happy with the sound, only thing that is lacking is the sub.
currently got a crappy clarion that a mate gave me and it just doesen't reporduce the bass
very well at all.

will probley get damping extra for the fronts, the mounts don't quite match up. amping the fronts is also on the list but further down the track after the subs are in, etc.

pretty set on doing the car pc, can get the screen and car pc done for around $700
(i work at a computer store so can get cheaper parts) have played with a few 7" screens and don't think that there really big enough to get the full functionality of the car pc.
10.4 is pretty huge and is going to be a big pain to make fit with out looking stupid but i think
the extra 3" will pay off.

so far the only place i can think it will fit is mounted hanging out over the ac controls/etc.
not the most practical spot but with a large screen there isen't many good places

also easy access for touch screen.

Your gonna get sick of that pretty easily man. Trust me ive had the whole 7" screen hanging in front of the air con controls for ages and you just get over it. Looses practicality after a while.
Try and do an In-Dash solution

Pretty sure Bigs is putting a 10" screen into his VR-X dash atm. He is moubnting it h\vertically rather than horizontally to make it fit however. Maybe look up his posts to see how he is donig it.

He's doing a 15.4" actually, it looks insane....ly awesome.

I've got his old 7" screen, and it's big enough for me (for now :P). In dash is the only way to go.

that looks awsome MitchellO well done (y)

i like the idea of putting the screen sideways, not sure that it would be much good for movies
but everything else would be just fine. will look into this.

it's a 12v lcd that i have been looking at.
can power it directly off the carpc PSU to save building a regulatord.
