Stoopid Tarago driver gave me a drag at the lights - 2 lanes into 1, who gets there first?
Feeling up to a challenge, I pushed the power button and floored it.
70 KPH in first at 5,000 rpm, Mr Tarago got left behind. A bit of a shock after puttering around at a max of 2,500 since I got the car.
So the question is - what are the max speeds throught the gears in the auto V6 TS, and what is its top speed?

Doesnt sound right i thought it topped out wayyy before then :S
Max speeds through the gears are listed in the owners manual somewhere, top speed, i know it can be clocked

With power mode at the drags, my car would hold first till 60, shift to second and wouldn't budge till after 100, by that time i'd past the 400m mark and failed at getting a time worth telling anyone about.

Redbook may have the gear speeds... that or the factory manual.

When PWR button is pushed mine can chane @ upto 6400... with a fist gear speed of about 70km/h.... about 130km/h in 2nd and changes at 6000rpm....

Done on private road...... 8.9sec to 100km/h..... Auto TR V6 1/4 tank with spare....

I find it hard to believe the 2nd gen V6 would get any more than 60 in first, thats more or less where the 3rd gen 3L 6's top out in first.

60k now and running sweet! haha... No **** 70km/h in first.....@ 6400....

Doesnt do it all the time. somtimes it holds... trust me i dont like it when it does... makes me cringe:redface:

So mine at 233,000 Km is doing OK? LOL

Ive only done breathing mods like K&N panel, Hiflow exhaust and secondary merger pipe...
Rollin on 17, spins off a tramp start, only a little....:badgrin: lol

If i knock the auto into low with power on, i can get to around 50-60 in first before knocking it into second, dunno how far i can get too in 2nd but.

with the new engine, i'm getting about 70 k's in first at about 6000rpm before knocking into second and getting about 105 before hitting third.

new engine's got 50,000km's with new timing chain, counter bbalance chain, all new guides and new piston rings. fair to say it's in pretty good nick.

Notice there is no drop off in power when it gets to 5000rpm.... keeps on goin strong.
the Merger pipe has really helped the top end....

Are you sure about that? Because that makes for an extremely excessive fourth gear. You'd be looking a top speed in the vicinity of 210-220Km/h, which is not unimaginable - but I'd say third doesn't have that much pull.

Actually i'd say that 4th wouldnt have that much left in it due to it being a cruising gear. I couldn't imagine it going beyond 200km/h actually, and according to the speedo, its supposed to be possible. then again, I might be wrong.

Yeah your right about the povo pack aussies get... i got the single cammer and i can do the ton in just under 9sec's with 125KW @ the fly.... with 180KW you would do the ton in a high 7 no probs... :badgrin:

Had my 4th gear with the SOHC finished at 210km/hr could've done 230 max.

The DOHC nearly hits 200 down a straight near home which the SOHC managed 170 at best. Love to see it starting to max out but i don't get the opportunity.

All on private roads of course and magnas dont actually do these speeds.

Yeah was fortunate enough to get a pristine example off my pop with 23,000 original k's on the dial... Ive run it in now and now has 65,000k's and due for another major....

Getting to the point now the rubbers in the suspension are Kaput.. i think they have hardened over the years and im slowly taring them out. Need to go around the car with a nolathane kit! and some shocks withs lows fitted.....:badgrin:

And fit a rear swaybar while im at it:rant: @ mits for not suppling standard!:rant:
