Yo, Going to be hooking up all my verada Door lights soon and i want to do it to each individual door trigger (Just like a rada...next time I'm just going to buy one:rant: )
Anyway does anyone know where the stock wiring runs for each door trigger?
So it saves me ripping apart the car in hope.

Also can anyone with a Verada tell me when there illuminating keybarrel light comes on? Like is it just when the door is opened?

Pretty sure it would use a relay like the dome lights do for the ignition light, as for the individual door triggers, I'd you'll probably have to get to the door trigger anyways to split the wires and run some relays.

Key barrel is done of a switch in the drivers door on the lock, you turn the key to unlock the key barrel comes on.

The ETACS systems use this to activate.

The door lights, each door switch has 2 contacts, one for the int light, one for the door light, the switch is an earth, the door lights have constand power to them.

You will need to get 4 new door switches as the execs have a single contact switch.

And for all the know it alls, if you hook up the std door switch, you will active all lights when you open the dorr.

Lovely!
So off to the wreckers tomorrow.
I'm thinking with the keybarrel light (ignition one) it would be easier to just hook it up to the drivers door.
Thanks :D

if you can ask at tandy's or something, try find a timer switch for the drivers keybarrel as most of the newer mitsubishi's use them so the ignition barrel light stays on for a specified period of time afterwards rather than turning off as soon as you open the door thus making the ignition barrel light useless.....
Other option is having an "on" light in the door key barrel and then an "off" function once you've put the key in the ignition barrel?
best of luck mate

my car has the illuminated keybarrel present, but it has never lit up, when i got around to putting a bulb in there, it never turned off after the doors were shut, im guessing since my car is a magna and not a verada it doesnt have the ETACS system so it doesnt have the timer to turn the light off?

I actually have one of those units for the Middle light. Makes it stay on for up to 30 seconds and then fades out. I havent installed it yet though.....I could hook it up (just thinking about it now) to the middle light and the keybarrel light possibly...Hmm dunno how the LED's would fade out though...
Or i could just use a tiny capacitor in series with it i guess to keep it on for a little bit

what the hell is ETACS anyway?

I think it stands for Electronic Timing and Alarm Control System?

If you read your manual it says what it does in there, cant remember off the top of my head, controls timing on smaller electronics like the interior lights and stuff i think, also controls the car alarm, cant remember exactly off the top of my head, it was only installed on veradas but.

if i pull on the door handle (when its locked) my keybarrel lights up, only on the drivers side.

Is that different or helpful?

haha not really, your car is verada so it has all the nick nacks installed that most magnas never got.

Funny that, just picked up the bits to make myself a timer circuit yesterday. Got distracted today so didn't get past laying out the board.
Got the schem from here (http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/hardware-development/62668-dome-light-dimmer-delay.html), you can do it for $5 - $10)

Lynel, do you mean your ignition key barrel or the hole in the door? My interpretation of the schematic was that on pulling the door handle, the door keyhole light comes on for a while?
Intended retrofitting one of these one day, and setting it up as a flashing red alarm warning, but the last plastic ring I pick up broke (seemed virtually all of those that I managed to find were broken, think the plastic is just old and heat affected).

Well I've got all the door switches now, Question is, How are they wired up?
Just taking a stab in the dark but guessing one wire is the factory open switch and the other wire goes to the light and from the light it gets grounded?
I need to know so i can install more LED's LOL!

Tuffy, guessing from what Mal said I'd say (don't quote me though, can't find the schem) that you feed a power line to the door light (use your blue power line from your power windows I should say), from the other side of the light go back into the car and connect it to the second connector on your new switch. Thus when the door opens, the switch earths the light circuit.

Tejas, if you undo the big bottom cover thing of the steering wheel column (humour me, I'm rushing), you should see the ignition ring, there's a black twist light holder, twist it out and you'll see the bulb. Should be a T5 if I recall correctly, you could get a blue wide angle T5 LED from somewhere, or you could just get a blue "condom" (silicon sleeve) and slip it over the bulb. Not sure if there's any semi-blue T5 condoms in the stock setup (eg, the T10s in the instrument cluster have these, makes the yellow light a bit whiter), but there are definitely green (ash tray) and red (demister? hazard?)

Awesome!
Thanks for that...seems so simple...
