limp home mode? dont have my owners manual anymore, so I can't look it up. I accidentally left it on my bed one night and mum put it through the wash when she was washing the sheets. lol.

Yeah that sounds like a bad light.

Yeh, some cars have a hold function that just hold the gear in. Maybe in some markets they had this is a function in their cars? Or maybe they had intentions of adding it at a lateer stage? If it was a gearbox problem I doubt it would say hold. Be more like 'ur ****ed' or '$$$' or 'exhibiting typical magna tendencies'.

pretty sure it just means you have the shifter in 2 or 1 position, as opposed to D. It is "Holding" it in the lower gears.

I noticed on the Mitsubishi Sigma those 3 lights are "PWR", "O/D OFF" and "ECO". According to the Magna TR Operators Handbook, whatever light is to the right of O/D OFF was never wired up or used. As a matter of fact, there is no light that even remotely resembles "HOLD" on this cluster diagram.

Of course, that doesn't answer your question for overseas models such as the Sigma or Diamante where it may have been used.

A possibility of course could be in Cruise Control, as in it HOLDs the speed. That's a wild guess though. I don't have a Verada handbook so I can't check.

The "HOLD" light should never illuminate, i am fairly sure that from factory it doesnt contain a bulb.. and even if a bulb were put in, it should have no function. I actually have no idea why its imprinted in the gauge.
I remember as a kid being in a mazda of some sort with a HOLD light, and there was a hold button.. when it was enabled i am pretty sure that once u accelerate and the auto went back a gear, it stayed there until the hold button was pressed again.

ACTUALLY, wasn't there a 4wd version of the sigma/diamante somewhere in the world? perhaps plans were to bring that function here if the magna did well enough? as I said before, could be used for better traction in snow/sand like in the liberty?

I'd say that the fact the HOLD light is still in the plastic is due to the Diamante and Magna having the same clusters. Instead of making 2 versions, they just used Diamante clusters in the Magna with a few lights disabled.

its not cruise, I have it in my car, and when its on a green light that says 'cruise' comes up in the same oval as the right indicator.
