Hey Guys,

Just thought I would share on my idea for my neon control module. Basically it consists of 4 LED's and feeding all the power source wires in to the controller and then feeding 4 wires out for each seperate neon location.

This is my basic diagram on how it would look (see the top) and how the "modes" and status indicators will work, the LED's will be lit when power is being fed through to that particular neon. This will also make checking for blown fuses easier. The red/white power leads will be going TO, where the rest will be coming FROM.

The power source wires will be tagged instead of colour labeled to save a little money.

This whole control module should cost around $50 to setup with LED's, custom loom, in-line fuses, and all required wiring.

The mounting location of the control module would be just before the cup holders in the centre console for easy access.

So, just looking for a little feedback on the idea, what do you guys think?

Yep - why not use illuminated push-buttons - jaycar have some very nice ones, either use a momentary with a transistor flip flop or an alternate action.

See, that wouldnt work with like 7 different modes for each neon location so, LED is the way to go.

Ah - gotya. Possiblilty is to use 4017 decade counters rather than rotary switches too

You use the pushbutton to run through the different modes (you could also use an RGB LED for each channel) - I hate rotary switches (for a number of reasons) - but for simplicity its the go. Personally I would use a 16X2 charactor LCD with a series of menus, but I do tend towards gross overdesign. :)

Ahh, that would be nice however it is a bit beyond my technical skill in electronics :P
