Hi!

Just wondering what the biggest rims anyone has put on an TJ II AWD sports. I have searched the forums and read a few threads on the AWD having very poor clearance with anything past a 16".

However I have been running 17 inch VRX rims for the last 3 years with no problems. Now it's time for new rims and I was wondering what other AWD / AWD sports owners have managed to put on.

Also, I would like to lower the car - will this compromise the wheel clearance further?

Thanks!

lol search for andrewd's old ride, 20's and scraping the floor with his all wheel drive.

The front end is damn near identical to our fwd stablemates, the rear is meant to be the hassle due to near zero clearance on the rear knuckle agains the inner edge of the tyre. Depending on your chosen rims width, a positive offset can be selected - taking care that the extra offset doesn't make the outside edge of the tyre contact the guard under heavy cornering or lowering. I run 17 x 7s with unchanged offset just as you do.

Thanks EZBoy.

So could we then get the guards rolled if we were installing say 19 inch rims with the appropriate offsets?

if you got rims with the "appropriate offset" you could even get 20s and do nothing.... no rubbing etc...

If you have the details - what is the offset and width of your rims?

Thanks :)

Mate, I'm running 19's on my AWD with 245's on a 8.5 wide rim and +35 offset no scrubbing and no rolled guards.
And no spacers.

He raised it up, took off the supercharger, put 18's on it and sold it.

Then he got banned.

Then he dumped the little (Barina?) car he bought to the ground lol

MGNTZD had 18"s on his AWD, from memory they're 18x8" with a +35 offset. Had that with King SL front and Low rear, no scrubbing issues. Sat pretty nice.

I ran 18 X 8's on my AWD Verarda problem was getting tyres that had the right weight rating. Kept breaking sidewalls. Only one's that were any good where Falken about $365 each.
