just wondering how much effort it would involve to change a tn 2.6 carbie to a 2.6 fuel injected and also cost :stoopid:

engine conversion would be your best bet

Im not 100% sure but you wont need to change the engine. The basic things that would be needed are...
*Inlet manifold with the associated sensors and injectors.
*perhaps a fuel tank out of an EFI car with the in tank high pressure pump
*ECU and loom

I reckon it would be a good idea to maybe buy a EFI car for wrecking and pull the bits out of that. Then you know you will have everything you need and it will be cheaper in the long run.

You'll need
-EFI fuel pump, lines, pressure reg and rail with injectors.
-Intake manifold + throttle body + intake pipe/airbox
-EFI exhaust manifold+cat+misc bits (just get a decent aftermarket exhaust with extractors)
-EFI ECU +wiring loom+sensors
-Possibly few little bits for the cooling system that relate to the throttle body (i don;t know that exact details off the top of my head)
-Possibly different coolant sensor.

Is your current car in particularly good condition or do you have some special attachment to it? I think your best bet is to buy a decent EFI car transfer your mods over then sell your current one.

Check out the link in my signature..

Good Luck:D

Have done this before

You will need.....a tn EFI car to use.

The ECU harness WILL NOT adapt to the std harness without modifying, if you have the whole car you just rip out the dash, front cross member and change over all the fuel and vapour lines. ALL fuel lines are a must as the new pump runs at higher pressure. YOu can either use your current tank or the efi one, the pump should go in either way. Just make sure all lines are changed.

Next unclup the ENTIRE harness, then swap it over. It is very basic, the brake booster needs to come away from the fire wall to get the harness out but besides this there is very little involved aside from some clips and plugs.

Put her all back together and then you are ready to go

This is a very high level but it is not such a big job
