ok so for some time now my transmition has been playing up, it doesnt always shift into 1st gear straight away, when i go to stop it will be still in 2nd an then shift really hard into 1st, sometimes (fun but also bad) if i time it right, when i stop and then take off again it revs out in second gear and drops into gear and i end up smoking the wheels, im prity sure its not sliping or any thing, its jusy reving out in second.
any way i disconected the battery (as i was playing around with some amp and all) and when i put it back, the shifting into 1st got worse, and got even more violent, to he point where i stop and 5 seconds latter i get a big jerk through the whole car as it finally changes down into 1st gear.
can any one give me any advice on what i should do? is my tranny going to die? how much for a rebuild? or im guessing it has more to do with the TCU or something.
thanks for all

With the jerking into 1st when you stop, mine does that a bit too atm, check your transmission oil, mine is badly overdue for flushing which is causing my problems.

Should be pinky, mines black

As for the rest of it I'm not sure, but I'd get the transmission flushed and see how you go from there.

A bit hard on the auto box, aren't you?

My TS V6 3L did this too - until I adjusted the tps (Throttle position sensor). Check yours!

Try this - when you come to a stop, shift manually to 1st. As soon as the car moves off, shift to 2nd, then to 3rd. If this fixes the problem, its the tps setting.

Also try: when stationary in drive, put left foot on the brake. Use the throttle to raise revs to 1100, then release the brake. If you take off normally in 1st, normal change to 2nd as speed increases, then its an autobox pump pressure problem.

You can get round both problems by manually starting off in 1st with the lever, then shifting to 2nd and 3rd as speed increases.

I had similar problem when i still had the auto box in the car. THis was the start of the problem, until i had nothing but 3rd gear, D light flashing on dashboard and drove like ****. Was perfect time to convert to manual, but then found out it was a sensor on the gearbox in the end.
Apparently its a common problem on the magna auto boxes.

Go to a auto specialist and get the box checked before you damage it more.
