OK well i have a 1990 tp carby manual and every so often when i rev it out to about 5500 in first when i change into second it sounds like it lets out a quick burst of air (sounds a bit like a blow off valve). i can only hear it when i rev it out to about 5500. i very rarely rev it this high and i never redline it. does anybody have a clue what it could be.
P.S my mate said it also happened in his dads 93 vr, but once again only when you thrash it.
Thanks, Paul

Probably a 'sucking' noise coming from air passing through the throttle body butterfly when you release the clutch and hit the accellerator again. Vacuum formed behind throttle body when it gets closed after a good heavy run will suck air through the throttle body when it's opened again after a gear change. Maybe... yes... no... meh.
If that was hard to read, throttle body closed, exhaust gasses leave combustion chamber, creating a vacuum against closed throttle body as the pistons continue their cycle, throttle body opens again and vacuum pulls the air through en masse to fill voids.
That's my guess.

you do know that the soild lifters in your head bleed out at 5500 so all your doing is ringing the crap out of your engine:nuts:
and also there is no need to rev it sooo high cos you won't get any more power out of it by doing that. for the astron peak power/torqure (sp?) is at 2400 rpm so going over 3000 is just for wank factor cos it's not helping the engine get up to speed faster or anything. but each to there own.

right well in the book and on every site i have seen it says Maximum power is at 5200rpm. and you can still feel that its still got guts past 3000rpm so its not just for the "wank factor" but thanks anyway
magna has hydralic lash adjusters standard, not solid ones...
from memory - my astron wouldnt move anywhere unless it was over 3k... peak power is higher than 2400rpm... i have a dyno sheet to prove that... the dyno was done also when my car was stock.
after i put on the weber, mine used to pull up to and well over the redline.
