:(

Seems I have to drive my girlfriends horrible festiva tomorrow to work as my baby is going in to the local mechanic to get ripped apart and put back together to get those nasty 3 oil leaks fixed up.

So hopefully I'll have her back on Friday afternoon, with around $1000 in repairs completed.

If only I got the thing checked when I first bought it, never trust a dealer!

that sucks mate, hope it doesnt cost too much
you got the car from a dealer? shouldnt you have some warranty on it?
or has the time already past?
should get 3 months warranty

I got 12 months, however it didn't cover oil leaks. Total repair cost is around $995. So, bank account--.

Sigh, at work now... That festiva is horrible. The sound system is pathetic, it cruises at like 3.5k just to do 100, and has no power steering :( I want my magna back

Dude be grateful its a Pretty new car - when mine was off the road i was driving an XD and XE around. No air con, No heater, rust everywhere, 3sp's, one only had 1 headlight working that shot up into the sky, drank like horses (100L/350k) and had the lightest power steering in the world (could turn any corner with your pinky)
So you know one day with a festiva is bearable :)

:(

Still without my car...

Apparently I get it back this afternoon, I got so bored on the weekend to distract myself from not having my car and having to spend so much no repairs that I wired up an alarm and central locking kit to my girlfriends festiva... Took me 12 hours rofl, Festiva's are a bitch to wire, then last night the speedo wire fell out of the cluster!

Can't wait to get my magna back, I miss the smooth ride and xplod system.

Tuffy's right mate, should be grateful you have a half decent car to drive, and especially grateful your gf let you borrow it! As nice as the Magna is, it gives you something to look forward to when its done :P

1000 seams a lot to fix an oil leak, mine has a small leak, so im looking into doing a 3.5L conversion and ive seen the whole compleate engines for less than that

Rocker gasket cover
Rear main seal
and something else

3 oil leaks in total, plus the Rocket cover leak screwed the timing belt and added +$300. So, now its up to $1300.

Rocket gasket cover

rocker cover gasket. They are rockers, not rockets that live under this.

My bad, work keyboard is crap.

Went to get my toolbox from my boot at the mechanic yesterday :( I hurt me inside seeing a massive puddle of oil under my engine.

I wish I knew how, I'm only good with the electrics. when it comes to motors I'm stupid as it gets. But ****. Give me a head unit and 20 mins later its up and running.

Yeah headunits are like 3 wires though
What i'd be doing to beef up your knowledge is start off small, do general services, i.e. oil, plugs, leads, all easy enough after a while - Try and get a bomb of a car to work on, you'll learn tons

I blew head gaskets, Live and learn - had to take the timing belt off my car 10~ times now so I'm getting very used to the big jobs...
Cause really $1300 is just ridiculous

Ya... I have no choice really though... I have 12 month warrenty only 2 months old. Keep in mind however that $1300 is 3-days straight working on it.

When I went to get the toolbox the tranny and engine were both out being worked on. Hopefully it'll be at home when I get there, apparently I was suppose to get it back this afternoon (been at work since 9, don't get off till 8.15).

dude u should have gotten another whole 3.0L engine way cheaper than that! bolt right in, or even a 3.5L conversion, like $1600!! i would be spewin just to get my old engine repaired, if u could have holded out a bit longer, u could have mine, as im looking for a 3.5L upgrade
