ok this one is for the electrical gurus
basically what i have is a pair or combination fog / driving lights and i wanted some advice as to the best way to wire em up
what i really want to know is if it is possible to put a switch on dash (ie rear demister or cruise switch) and have it wired so with that switch on and my normal headlights on (or parkers) i have fog lights but when i hit high beams my driving lights come on and fogs go off
turn the switch off and neither work
turn headlights off and neither work
i was thinking of running through a set of relays but not sure what would be the best way to wire it up
opinions / thoughts?

Reasonably simple with relays. You would need two, and design it to run on earth return through the filaments of the driving lights (when driving lights are on, there is +12v across both sides of the lowbeam relay coil, so it turns off) However, if both driving light bulbs die, it wont work for either low or highbeam.

See my attached diagram. You could switch the positive feeds from the headlamp connectors to pin 85 on both relays. Ignore the 'new h4 connectors' and just run the fog/driving from low/highbeam relay outputs (with earths obviously)

cheers for the diagram dude but where would i put the switch in that setup?
i'm not one of these guys who thinks it's cool to have the foggies on any time i want forward light but i do work afternoon shift and tend to finish work at an early finish @ midnight
travelling out to pakenham (40km) on the new freeway i have already this year come across fog that limited visibility to about 30M so the foggies ARE needed. but only when wanted
and around town i don't need my driving lights as well as high beams because they are sufficient for late night town duties but more want them for open road trips, hence the switch.

if worst comes to worst i'll wire the D/L so they are triggered by my high beams and put the fogs on a switch. i only want one switch in the cabin and am "trying" to keep a factory look.

these are my lights for the record

Switch the positive feed from the headlights before it gets to the relays (the wire from the feed to the two pin 85's on the relays).
