I saw a 4WD TR at Pipeworks Funmarket the other week.. wtf?

it looked like it was owned by a family, i wanted to steal it. Or at least ask if they wanted to swap! Ive never heard of an All wheel drive TR before. Is there anymore info on em anywhere? or does anyone know any more about it. What country it might come from etc?

Nah im sure it was an actual 4wd..

1. It was higher than standard hieght
2. The badge wasnt just placed on. It was on the front grille and looked like part of the car and not just chucked on there for fun.
3. I didnt have a good enough look but it did look different from underneath, didnt have a chance to check for a diff.
4. Why would a family want to make their Magna look like a 4WD?

Also i just remembered it wasnt a Magna, it was a "Diamante". It had the chromed out front end (grill and headlight trims), Verada Head lights, orange indicators.. and it was a strange browny colour that ive never seen on a magna. Wish i had a camera.

And if this helps there was mud on the rear side of the car. ie the rear wheels kicked mud onto em. Dunno if it could be cause they were free spinning, or maybe it was in fact an actual all wheel drive?

There was a TR/TS Diamante that was 4wd. Would almost definately be a different floor pan though.

I do recall photos of a Diamante KR/KS shape on a Russian website, and it looked like it was a AWD judging from the height of the car.

The height of a car means nothing, its the rear diff that counts

To set things straight. There were awd versions of the 91-96 diamante just
as there are awd versions of the 97+ diamante. What you saw was either
a jap import or NZ import. Yep, NZ gets their 91-96 Diamantes from Japan.
They get their 97+ from Australia, just like the US. The top of the range
Diamante had the 3.0 DOHC 6G72 with MIVEC, tiptronic and AWD. All their
models have independent rear suspension. Their climate control is also
electronic with LCD (similar to our KE+veradas). Their 97+ Diamantes has
touch screen colour lcd which controls the climate control, audio etc etc.

We in australia and NZ, and US from 97+ miss out on a lot of Mitsu stuff
that the Japanese have. Its a pity really.

Saw the car again at the market. One of the owners of a stall there own it, asian man its a family car. Had a look inside sneakily. Couldnt resist. Fair condition, slight damage on the front rear, thats it. Shit color, brown, but still 4wd. Might ask him if hes ever considered selling it.
