I'm thinking about getting an iPod Nano Video to hook up to the headunit in my car, but because my headunit doesn't come supplied with the iPod adapter I need to buy the connector separately, which is proving difficult for Sony decks.

I've found a Sony XA-110IP iPod adapter, and on all accounts it looks like it'll wire up to my headunit just fine, so on that side of things I'm not too worried, but I'm concerned about the connecting of the iPod itself to the adapter. The XA-110IP was brought out in 2006, and there has since been a XA-120IP released (in I think 2007) which is more or less the same. I'm using a Sony CDX-GT760 headunit btw.

My question is, will an iPod adapter that was built in 2006 still hook up to a brand new iPod, or have they changed their connections somehow or another on the new ones? I'd get a XA-120IP, but I can't find anywhere with them, and I've found a guy I can get the XA-110IP for $60 new.

Any past experiences with this guys?

Nah, it's all in the software in the iPod. I'm sure it would be fine.

Connections on the current iPods are just the same as before (apart from the Shuffle obviously which doesn't have the 30pin dock connector).

Hey mate

The current iPods still retained the same 30 pin dock connection like the old ones.
The only thing that changed with the new ones was the cables to connect to the TV.
Do you have an AUX in your head unit cause you can run it throught there.

Sounds like it'll be all good then. I'll have to get that EOI back as a FS on the M:Robe, as much as I love the thing I don't really like using it in the car because I cbf with the aux cable hanging out the front of the headunit.

Yeah it does, but that iPod adapter should hook up fine to the rear. The only reason I'd change over is because I want to control it through the headunit, not through the device itself, that and I cbf removing it from the car to charge it :P I'm lazy like that.

Sounds like it'll be all good, now all I've gotta do is organise the iPod, flybuys is good for stuff like that lol

I just find on long trips, if I have anyone in the car, i can put the touch in the gps holder and they can watch movies through the car stereo. Makes the trip a little better!!
