Sorry if its a repost... couldnt find any info on the part number specifically etc...

Looks like the regulator is gone, battery is 14v (or so, as per the dash) when its cold, but once it warms up the voltage drops to 12.5v (depends on the day, it may hover at 13 or 13.5).

Only 65k's on the clock, bushes are fine, so i'm guessing its the diodes.

The belt isnt 100%, but when the voltage is down the AC still works 100% (same belt from memory?).

Does anyone know the part number & a good place (online?) to get a replacement?

anyone suggested you get a regulator (black rectangular bit on the alternator)

you can inspect it -- it is only held on by 2 screws

undo the + battery terminal first

You can get the regulator for ~$50 from bursons or repco, not sure where to get one online, the don't seem to be any on ebay.

they are a different belt... you'll find the alternator shares the same belt as the powersteering pump (if ya got powersteering), not the A/C

make sure you get a the correct regulator, the 85A alternator from EFI/high spec magnas has a different regulator compared to the 65A alternator.

another sign of dead diodes is battery going flat over night... if its just not producing the correct voltage, chances are its the regulator.

yeah the flat battery was the first sign, then i started watching the gauge & giving it a charge when i take it out (driven once or twice a fortnite).

Buff, the regulator looks quite different to that, from memory the casing was green?
about 10cm long too.

I'll grab one this weekend, cheers guys.

different alternator

pic is of a TN /TP genuine alternator

better take the regulator that you have

when you buy the replacement

the pic you have shown is an 85A from a TN/TP... OP has a TM, and would have a 65A alternator.

nah, i just come & leech when i need help... yes, one of those types.

New regulator works a treat, although the other day after 2 full days of driving it went down, not 100% sure whats going on now, but maybe a dodgy connection elsewhere after the engine bay got degreased & washed.

Maybe a dodgy connection, but otherwise its great.
