hey guys recently ive noticed (well someone else noticed) that my friends car is got smoke coming from his exhaust but only when its cold? what could be causing this (its a 93 magna).

Thats normal mate, pretty much all cars will do that in the cold until they warm up.

Probably just condensation or hot exhaust gas into cold surrounding air.

Although there's a chance it could be the Valve Stem Oil Seals if the smoke is excessive, as the oil runs down the valve stems and into the combustion chamber when the engine is off and left to sit (which would be the case when cold). This is commonly seen if the smoke on startup is a bluish colour, in addition to the engine losing oil. If it's just white and a bit from the exhaust it's probably just normal.

Also for valve stem seals, if you leave it sitting idling for a while and then hit the accelerator, you'll also get the puff of smoke. If it doesn't happen like this, I'd say probably not valve stem seals.
