Hi everyone, just a short question, can you fit VRX ECU on lets say Advance 01 (150kw). If yes what about the following:

VRX has 5 speed tippy auto (it did come off an auto 100%), & as far as i know magna ECU & TCU are combined in one

Also cam profiles, i know from mid 01 all magnas got diffrenet cam profile which increased the power by 5kw (non VRX models ofcorz), hence VRX computer will be tuned to account for diffrenet cams.

The reason im asking is that there is a guy on ebay claiming VRX ECU will fit any V6 magna 98 on, & will increase the power, he makes it sound that its a straight fit to any magna without any mods needed.

Is that true?

I'm not a technically minded person, but I would have assumed that the ECU would be tweaked to suit the car's exact engine profile, so you're unlikely to gain anything at all by adding it? Even if it has been tweaked a bit more aggressively than a base model, the increase would be marginal at best, and could easily be offset by the tune for the wrong motor....

Just my thoughts until someone more knowledgable posts.

The cam upgrade was done in 2000 with the TJ series 1. Mid 2001 all non VR-X or sports models got a RETUNE.
The difference between the sports and non-sports models was the tune, the muffler and the transmission. In mid 2001 all models came standard with more powerfull tune.

You will also need to get (or buy another) BCM and either get the original keys and ignition barrel so you can start it as well :doubt:
