before you do anything else.
check your spark plugs  if you have one dodgy plug, that means it wont ignite the fuel thus  throwing it directly out your exhaust pipe ;)
try that then go from there.. check your rear bank of plugs too.. cos they dont get changed as often thay could be the source of a plug failure.
do you know how to look for dodgy plugs?

Id go for something a little simpler first.
Whats your car idling at? It should be 500 - 700rpm's when in idle. (It has the specifics under the bonnet)
If its hitting 1k. Reset your ECU...

how do u reset?
how do u reset?
Remove the positive connection from your battery for around an hour.
Then when you turn the car on youll be given an option of S or W looks like a 5 and a |_|_|
One is sedan and the other is wagon. Chose your setting and voila, reset.

Actually, you don't need an hour :) DC and C again will do....

Ok i wanted to know that.
I saw this as well cause the radio died on the TJ, so i was looking at this and thought WTF is that. I cant remember if i chose S or W... i saw a 5 and somethng else but i cant remember what i chose... I think there was 3 settings... haha, no i didnt look in the book. So the S look like a 5 and the W looks like |_|_|.. cause i saw some weird character in there. The pricks at Mitsubishi should have reset this when they installed the new radio.
What should I do ? Its an auto sedan

but why would the car suddenly just go haywire?
i know as soon as i can smell fuel out my exhaust i need to change a plug or so (life expentacy of plugs in my car are about 3months) so errr...
i though id point out the ovious Mechnical point of reference - in this case by looking at spark plugs.
how did you go with restting the ecu?

???
What if you don't have the stock radio anymore, where will you enter the S or W ?
or maybe TF 3.0L doesn't have the function to select?
Oh, All cars will have some smell, the best way to tell whether your car is rich or not is by high RPM gear change, if it's rich, you'll get a pff of dark smoke out the back, just like when high powered cars shift.
I really doubt your car would be running rich if it was still on stock ECU, as a few things must be faulty before you get your car to be rich without doing anything...

What if you have a sedan and put it on Wagon.. will it make a difference?
I cant rmember what i put mine on and I cant get my battery positive terminal off ****in!! The idiot has put it too close to the battery plugs, I can only get the ground nut off!! ffs. Need a smaller tool.
Anyone know if there is a difference ?

i think it caculates distance to empty / fuel remaining.
cos i know the sedan and wagon have different size tanks.
72/65 sedan/ wagon im sure.
