correct me if im wrong ,but im under the impression that low beam on para equipped cars are "on" always and only the high beam comes on when the high beam switch is turned on....
...question is can l modify my stock set up so it doesnt switch filaments and leave the low beam on and then having just the high beam circuit come on,thus keeping a bright pool of low light and having a better spread of high beams using higher wattage globes as well as my spotties....or is it just a matter of setting up my wiring as if im changing to paras but not actually doing it....either way...
..a wiring diagram would be helpful if possible...thanks

Hey,
I gather you have H7 single filament in the lows and H1 single filament in the highs?,if so i would be fairly sure the h7 lows would stay on even when the highs are flicked,if they went out with the highs, you would have next to no light in front of the vehicle,i wouldnt think it would do this form the factory as it would be dangerous,if this is indeed wired like this, you could certainly knock up a relay or two to keep them on with the highs

+1 - all 4 globes are on when on highbeam.

He does not have parras, he has the dual fillament globes for the outers and single for the inners and is asking if the outers can have both of the fillaments on while on high beam
There would be no difference to this at all, the light close up will still be good due to the reflector, in addition the additional heat would not be good for the light itself

Read my thread (High wattage bulbs - a caveat) on why this is a particularly bad idea...

Humm, I have a second gen with "aftermarket" parras, does this mean that my lowbeams won't stay on? I have thought this is the case for a while now but never really did anything about it.

Go check?

Sorry I worded that bad, I know they don't. Is it safe for them to?

...perhaps i need to clarify things, yes i have standard H4 globes with two filaments...duh..low/high,i know this,
what i want to do is similar to the set up i have in my EF Falcon,in that the low beams stay on and the high beams light up,i dont want to bridge the terminals to run both filaments...dumb...
i have used 4 Bosch 30 amp relays to ensure that i can run big globes without melting anything...so over to anyone who can tell me how i can wire up the lights to leave the low beams on and use the switch to activate the high beams as normal

You could do this 2 ways
1. The outer lights stay as low only, the light is wired to a relay for low and a relay for high, the relay for the centre highs would need to be seperate so as not to have them be triggered by the lows....if this makes sense.
2. You could also set up a relay to trigger the lows when the highs are on.
With the Falcon, unless someone has modified it, the lows do not stay on when the highs are on, unless of course there is a fault. The switch works differently to the Magna, when you pull it foward with the lights on, the lows stay on, when on high beam, ie the switch forward, it lows are off
