ok my mate at work has an RX8 N he just showed me this neat lil trick/mod that you can do with a pc and a printer and sum clear printer parer latex stuff ( lol i dont know what its called but its clear and flexs.
any ways its pretty much a template that you put in your tail light like the centre one and so when you hit the anchors itll show up RX8.
wel i was thinking this cant be too hard and was wandering if anyone here has done it or if any one here could make a template for a 3rd gen.
heres the link.

like the looks of it on the RX8 but not sure about a magna.
maybe seeing it on one would change my mind.
are there legalities involved with putting things over your brake lights?

I dnt think so hey.. i think so long as the light shines red and you can tell its a break light than itll be ok
regrdless though i think this would be a nifty trick.
you dont even have to have magna or verada it could just be the logo.
i remember someone on here ages ago trying that on there break light in there tf
and it looked ok.
but this one doesnt sit ON TOP of the light rather inside the light itsef
here did a search someone has already done this!

apparently if there's a break light like spoiler mounted etc its ok but not sure...i havent been hit up anyway and been defected countless times for other things.

Im pretty sure you would go for a row if you got pulled over and the cop wasnt particulary happy, but i dont think playing with brake lights is real smart either though,I wouldnt do it for the sheer reason that some knob would be admiring the pretty logo lit up on the back of the car instead of concentrating and stove your **** end in!

The high-mount brake light is more important anyway (rear window or spoiler).
I don't see the point though...

I'm sure there is potential insurance company rape if you get hit from behind, same risks as tinting tail lights i rekon.
On a supportive note my mate had one on his x-trail. He got it off e-bay.

Sorry, I thought the actual brake light was modified to make it taller to be able to fit a mitsu logo. After looking at the orginal thread the light just looks taller coz the window is on an angle, probably would be too squished or small on a wagon. And I think mine is in a window spoiler

I'm seriously considering doing mine even though theres a spoiler there...
My led strip on the spoiler is buggered at the moment so I replaced the broken globe in the back window light...

Yes, there are legalities involved. and No, it's not allowed / illegal ?That one.
apparently if there's a break light like spoiler mounted etc its ok but not sure...You can only run one or the other, either spoiler or highmount. Running both is technically illegal.
some knob would be admiring the pretty logo lit up on the back of the car instead of concentrating and stove your **** end in!That's exactly the reasoning given.
I investigated it a few years ago when I was doing some work for a trike company who where releasing their own design, I thought it would be cool to have their logo as the highmount, masked with laser-cut stainless. Rang and everything was looking fine, until they (transport) figured out what I was talking about, and said in no uncertain terms that any design is illegal.

I suppose if you ever get pulled over for any suspicion and the officer thinks your being a smart a***, even if you've technically done nothing else wrong, these are the things they will be looking at pulling you up for.
Same theory as having blue number plate lights or those windscreen washer jet neons. You're just asking for crap. I had them on my old car and got hassled all the time.

not sure about that in nsw man...seen heaps and heaps of cars running both. i've been defected a few times, and passed the road worthies with them both running and its been ok.

Its there fault for travelling too far up your ass. So i'd be blaming them
Thats like someone else saying my spoiler was distracting - too bad - if they dont hit the anchors on time and are concentrating elsewhere - well all i know is i get a new rear end :D

true tuffy, also if they wanna say the high mount wasn't working properly 9/10 u'd think they'd say well the ones mounted in the lights were working...tough luck.
even if its the car infront's fault, if u're the one running up the other's **** u will most likely be at fault.

No,i say its more like having a bird sitting on your bootlid with her milk wagons hanging out and blaming some poor bastard for looking!:D ,and last time i checked,a spoiler wasnt possibly insurance voiding either!
Either way,i prefer to keep my car out of crash shops if at all possible, even when someone else is paying! lol, just to much trouble and possibilty of rat**** repairs IMO

Hmm, this is getting me curious.
How about modifying a garnish to glow the "MAGNA" through instead of just having words...
Would that be legal, and if so - Is there anywhere for the light to shine through behind it?

could source power from boot light or numberplate light...and use LEDs to fill it in...would be a big job

Its called modifying. If you dont modify you end up with a boring standard car. wow that sounds fun. I'd rather tamper with stuff and have someone point out wow look what he's done with that back light. rice or not, i think thats cool :2cool:

hence the one on the wing is a high mount, and so is the one i have on the parcel shelf. im saying, that i highly doubt having 2 high mount brake lights would be illegal ie one on parcel shelf and one on wing. drove behind a HWP today, they had the brake light in the wing and on parcel shelf, so must be remotely legal to have both.
and yeah tuffy, totally agree. everything done to a car these days to enhance/modify it seems to be rice. ah well

Since Mitsubishi will fit spoilers to their cars and leave the original and spoiler light running, it cant be too illegal to have both on.

Since Mitsubishi will fit spoilers to their cars and leave the original and spoiler light running, it cant be too illegal to have both on.Well I bought a TJ Sports & had the boot swapped with another car in stock to get rid of the spoiler as part of the deal to buy the car. It never had a brake light in the window & they never fitted one, so the car had no light apart from the tails. So point being Mitsi dealers don't know or don't care if things are legal or illegal.
