Hi everyone,
I did search for this but couldn't find it
I am looking for the circuit which the car uses to notify the alarm system that someone has opened a door/bonnet/boot.
I can hook up the interior light circuit to the alarm but im pretty sure there must be another circuit which covers all of those
I am sure it exists because when i was using the old security system (abeit just with my key), when i opened the boot while still armed the alarm would sound. (There is also a little button under the bonnet.
Also another question, i have a wiring diagram for the new alarm system and i can either hook it up as a negatively grounded or positively grounded system. anyone who has done this before which one did you use?
BTW im in the shed now so prompt replies would be much appreciated
cheers and thanks in advance

Hello. Definately negative ground. You need to trace the wire from the switch under the bonnet. There will also be a wire connected to the boot light. From memory this is green with a black trace. Doors are green with a red trace. l+r indicators are green with a yellow trace and green with a black trace. I am assuming you are after this for a 2nd generation. Good Luck

Trace it from the bonnet???????
It goes into the maze that is the wiring harness!
I was hoping it would be under the dash somewhere or at least one circuit going into the ETACS unit near the rear antenna or old alarm unit under the parcel shelf
Thanks for your help, hopefully I don't have to mess around with joining up three different circuits but ill see who else has any ideas.
Oh yeah and its for my car: '94 Rada

If you cant find the bonnet wire, cut it at the switch under the bonnet and join a new wire to it and run it inside. You should connect the boot, bonnet and doors seperately otherwise when you are working under the bonnet, the interior light will remain on unless you diode isolate the 3 wires

Good idea, and my interiors would come on with the boot too hehe.
Hmmmm I get your point about running a wire, I could do that - but shouldnt there be each of those three wires going into the ETACS then?
I'll pull out the Mitsu PDF on my car... only problem is im on the shed computer which is a 200mhz with 64mb of ram - the bloody PDF crashes my Macbook Pro with 2gb ram!!!!

Possibly. Then bonnet wire if it is there will be brown. Have you got a test light. If you have put the clip to 12 volt under the dash and probe the brown wire in the etacs system with the bonnet closed. If the light lights up. open the bonnet. If the light goes out then you know you have the right wire. Same with boot and bonnet as they are all negative triggers. Good luck

Bonnet: Solid Brown
Doors: Green with Red trace
Found these going into one fo the alarm units under the rear parcel shelf and your diagnosis worked!
Cheers for that. The only other one there is a solid green one, i'm guessing thats the boot.
Any chance you know where the boot lid trigger is because it a bit difficult testing stuf in there when I have to close the boot lid (even though i could probably fit lol)

Would think boot wire was green/ black. if not go to boot light.
