I have to replace the rear bumper on my TJ2 AWD Sports and I am considering getting a VRX front bar.

I was wondering if anyone has done this conversion before, could your please tell me:

1) Is the VRX front bar lower than the Sports front bar?

2) Other than the cutout for the muffler is there any difference between a VRX rear bar and a Sports rear bar?

3) Could I just get away with changing the front bar and the spoiler and leaving the side and rear with the Sports gear - or would this look wrong?

(I already have VRX rims and plan on lowering the car onto King Lows and perhaps changing the shocks if necessary).

Thanks!

1) Is the VRX front bar lower than the Sports front bar?

Not sure if it's *lower* (I don't think it would be significantly lower if it was), but it doesn't taper in like the Exec bar, so you've got to be a bit more careful parking / taking driveways.

2) Other than the cutout for the muffler is there any difference between a VRX rear bar and a Sports rear bar?

The VR-X rear bar isn't a rear bar as such - it's just an add-on for the existing Exec/Sports bumper, if I recall correctly. You just need to drill a few holes in your existing bumper to fit the VR-X add-on.

3) Could I just get away with changing the front bar and the spoiler and leaving the side and rear with the Sports gear - or would this look wrong?

Isn't the Sports essentially the same as the base Exec, but with the side bits colour-coded? If so, you'd really want the complete kit.

1- yes by about 1-2cm at most at its lowest point. it is almost the exact same height though measuring around the bumper and it attaches on top of your standard magna bumper (its a lip not a full bar)

2- the vrx rear is again an attachment onto the stock bumper. so the styling is a fair bit different and the bar comes down lower approaching the wheel arches. Fitting the bumper requires you to cut into the standard bumper from memory and relocating the muffler a few centimeters higher (an exhaust tip to suit also helps)

3- simply put, it would look half ****d. A vrx kit without the flares is passable (and imo better looking) but only having part of the kit would just look disproportional.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! I put a goddamn dent in my front bumper now

The last 3 weeks have been horrendous - I should give up driving for a while!

First some idiot puts a dent in my right passenger door and leaves...
Then I am rear ended at a set of lights.
And now I decide to scrape and put a dent in the corner of my front bumoer against a fence.

Dammit! I need two new bumpers, the left passenger door panel beaten and the bonnet resprayed (bird dropping paint damage from the previous owner as well as cats leaving claw marks on it) and I don't have much money floating around - sigh. I need a chauffeur. Oh and one of my fish died today - bad day / month

Ok - I'll stop now...

I've done this (gone from Sports to VRX kit) on my TJ2.

Also I was rear ended by a Rav 4 and have had my right hand side doors kicked in too - interesting co-incidence.

Anyway I think all the questions you have asked have been answered, but if you have any more, just ask.
