Hi all,

So I have my rear king lows in my boot atm, just wondering once I get the superlows for the front what kind of installation cost should I be expecting, also will the stock shocks suffice?

Thanks,
Dean

I'm not sure on the cost of fitting but if your shocks are still good, they will be OK. I'm still using standard shocks on mine.

How much was your original installation? after-all they are your old springs :P

When i got the lows/superlows fitted, i think it cost me $450 supplied and fitted from JAX in Fairy Meadow.

Hmm, sounds rather odd... The kits alone are 220 each, both rear and front kit required. $10 for installation? lol

I had had a few other things done to the car when it was there, wheels and tyres, allignmentand CV joints. They looked after me on labour charges!!!!

Suppose I'll have to email around and get some quotes then :)

I recently had Kings fitted & the labour cost for front & rear was $220. You will also need a wheel alignment which should set you back about $60.

do them your self there not hard, a set of spring compresses and a weekend should do the job:D

Knowing myself I'd prob slip and get smacked in the face with a compressed spring :P Thats why I'd rather a pro does it.

Its not $440 for springs, its more like $220 for front and back. Its about $200 for the install as well. If you've already got the rears then think half that, so maybe $220-250 for the fronts fitted + ~$100 for fitting the rear.

As to whether you can use the existing shocks or not, that depends on their condition, if they're worn out like mine then I wouldn't be using them on lower springs, but if they're still firm and within their life span, then there shouldn't be an issue as you'd probably only replace them with the same thing anyway.

Ya, car has done 237,xxx however the shocks are still quite strong. A lot of bumps in my area and I hardly feel them.

237k's on the original shocks? I'd be replacing them regardless. It'd have to be rolling onto its door handles by now in the bends. If they're driving fine then they've been replaced at some point almost certainly, have a look through your log books and find out how old they are if they're in there.

Ya, I have dogdy log books. All I have is the service history :( They have most likely been replaced though, it handles wayyy too well to be on the originals.

Sweet, noted. sounds like a good price. Just need to pick up some cheap fronts now :)

my kings didn't cost me a thing, because i done a job for a mate who's dad works at a suspension place in albury. but the retail on them was $220 for the fronts and rears.

Installing Springs is a pretty easy job, which is why many of us do it ourselves. However, as easy as the job may be, its a bit of a b!tch in labour, the whole strut has to come out, and takes a few hours to do the whole car.

If taking it to a pro, get your shocks changed at the same time. It shouldnt really cost you a cent more in labour for asking the pros to install new shocks, as the shock comes totally out to replace the spring.

Factor about 3 hours for install, and with most mechanics charging about $70 an hour, you do the math :)

my local suspension place quoted me about $80 to do them (i think - it was quite a while ago now). but i ended up doing it myself. all you need is a socket set and a set of spring compressors ($20 from autobarn). as for time, took me about an hour.

Cost me $850 all up for new shocks, springs + wheel alignment.

I've got another set of springs + shocks sitting in the shed for the AWD - it's going to cost me $250 to have them fitted plus alignment.

Tyrepower in Belmont, just down the road from you :D

KYB's + King lows. It's a reasonable price. I haggled a bit for it though.
Although it was for the wagon so the rear shocks cost a little less.
