View Full Version : Dashboard Brake warning light

Gday Peeps. I have a Tj 2001 magna,280k on clock The red exclamation mark light has just come on and is staying on..Handbrake is working alright and fluid levels are ok.All brakes working as normal.(Bendex pads bout 4 months ago,new front discs about 12 months ago) Any other ideas?:confused: Thanks in advance Peeps:D

I really appreciate everyone having a look at my dilemma:cool: but it would be nice to get a tad of advice,no matter how small:D ,of where to go from here.I am flat broke at the moment so please don't think I am a cheapskate:shock:

is the switch on the handbrake working?

yep,tried it on a slant,handbrake is working fine(8 clicks to fully on)light just come on for no apparent reason,I know to be safe I will have to get it properly fixed up,but until I get the quids to do it I was hopeing for some good advice so the brake fellas or whoever i take it to have less chance of screwing me if I SEEM like:cool: i know what i am on about:P

Sounds to me like the wire or whatever it is that tells the car when the handbrake is raised is busted, its thinking your handbrake is on 24/7. Could always pull the centre console out (only a few screws) and see if anything is visibly damaged.

nar i meant the switch like lugo said on the handbrake that tells it when its on or off.

other than that it could indicate a serious braking problem even if it feels ok. theres a lot of fail safe features built in, if its not the switch i'd get it checked out by mitsu cause if there is a serious problem there are times when u don't want to find out.

Lugo,just had a look (under the console)and that was it,little connect was a tad lose...................you are a LEGEND :D great stuff.. thanks to all , a thread to save for those who cop the same. EVERY MEMBER OF THIS SITE SHOULD BE PROUD!!!!!!!!!
