Gday guys,
I'm new to these parts lol as ive got a 2nd Gen myself, but recently the olds put me in charge of their Xi Verada (1996), its a very nice car to drive, with the 3.5L, comfort everythings, but i noticed a problem the other day.
When you fill the tank with gas, the guage goes to the top and the distance to empty reading resets to about like 500 or something, and then after about 50ks or less the guage suddenly drops to empty, no real warning, and doesnt move at all until the next refil. The way im now driving is by the distance to empty estimation, just wondering if this is anything small i could fix up myself? Anyone had this problem? and anyone know if it might be a faulty fuse or wiring causing this very annoying little problem!
Thanks in advance boys n girls!

Cheers,
Adz

My TF did something similar and the problem was the fuel sender - it's a common problem. Part number is MR933626. It's about $93 from Mitsubishi and about 1/2 hour of work.

There's a how to replace in the DIY section that explains it brilliantly.

Only minor issue we struck in the DIY was we had to release the fuel cap to get all the pressure out properly.

make sure you have minimal fuel when you get it replaced, cos most mechs tend to stuff around and lose alot of fuel when they switch it out.
