ok since ive got my extractors my fuel consumption has turned to shit. At first i just thought that was becuase i was giving it a good belting everywhere since it was my new toy. But with last tank i even drove responsibly and i still had really bad effeciency. And from the look of things it looks like the mixture is running a bit rich.
Any suggestions or does it just need a good tune-up?

check your cat. chances are it may be stuffed and the extractors have amplified the problem. my cat is rooted and its sent my fuel consumption up the creek.

since extractors put in first tank i got 400kms of tank which is what i normally get. second tank full i got 360kms out of tank. which is crap. and today things got worse. so far on this tank ive done 120kms and the gauge just showed less than half full. so something is seriously wrong. and i dont think that sounds like the cat. A cat shouldnt make that much difference to fuel consumption. i was thinking that maybe when they installed my extractors maybe they damaged the oxygen sensor but im not sure if that would cause the engine to use that much fuel. I aslo had a knock on my cat and it doesnt sound holllow. so does ayone have any comments on this please?????? anyone?
Sounds to me like your O2 sensor could be degrading fast. are u getting a rough idle? or high idle?
Maybe your air temp sensor? coolant temp sensor? would be a few sensors that can make your car run rich.

nah its been idleing ok actually.
Today i tried using the self diagnostic connector with a test light and thats just not working. Its not lighting up at all. No error code not even a constant pulse to show that everythings ok so i have no idea whats going on. might need to actually take it to mechanic or something and see whats going on as i dont have a multimeter to test if the O2 sensor is working myself.

took it into eastside mitsubishi and they did all the checking. The self diagnostic tool says oxygen sensor is fine, in fact all sensors are fine and working as they should. cats fine and the guy says there doesnt look to be any problems with the car at all. He said that it looks like it needs a throttle body set up and a tuning but thats about it. Excessive fuel consumption is just due to the extractors and beside the tune up theres not much they can do. Does anyone here have extractors on there 4cylinder 2nd gen or even 1st gen magna and if so what is the comparable fuel consumption for before and after?

I got 2 1/2" cat back on mine and i am VERY VERY lucky to get near 400km's on a full 75L tank of optimax!!
bugger!!
i think my prob might be idle control motor or throttle position sensor, plus need a little tune up!
but i've heard this about right for this model.
