They are around 250 for a high flow and there isn't any reason why you can't do it yourself, its a basic job.

just remove it and put a straight pipe replacement

it's a free power improvement

and forget about Captain Planet

If you hollow out the Cat, does it make the system much louder??

Anyone using a hollowed out cat or straight through pipe ??

Just interested in effects on the car.

Does it still run right ??

Does it blow smoke ??

Are there any power improvements ??

I did this on my last car (modified Skyline) and found that it stunk, didnt really gain much power, played havic with the standard computer and made the exhaust sound terrible.

Maybe naturally aspirated cars are different but is there really an advantage to be had to doing it on a Magna ??

Well, a Ralliart in particular ??

Replaced mine some months ago, from Moorebank Mitsu, some 190 bux. Bolt out, bolt in.
The only trouble I had was with the pin bolts which did not come off from the old Cat, no matter how much I WD40'd it and double-nutted it. So, had to got to local corner HWare to get couple of new bolts for few bux - instead of buying them from Mitsu for 14 bux ea.
I wouldn't use any other than proper Cats - Radar Operators do check emissions too, with RTA on the roads....

It will not enhance the performance any more than the money spent getting a roadworhty from the EPA afterwards could cost you, including sending the car to Alice springs and getting Dallas to fit Booyas Turbo to it. Infact you may have change left over after the turbo conversion lol
