Don't know the technical terms so I couldn't really search for it and oil leak it'self brough up too many results for me to be ****d sorting through.

On the black casing where the oil filler cap is, there are 3 large round plug type things and one of those seems to be leaking oil. There isn't much oil but it's noticeable that it's slowly seeping out of there and leaving a film of oil around the plug.

Anyone got ideas how to fix it and what parts are needed?

Cheers

From what your saying, I'm guessing you mean where the spark plugs are (Under the leads?) And possibly one of your spark plug seals may be leaking and letting oil seep into the spark plug chamber..

Never done this on a 3.5L 3rd gen but i have changed them on my DOHC 3.5L
Take out your leads, and anything thats attached to the rocker cover, Undo the rocker cover bolts (On mine there is 11!), and yeah take off the old gaskets, put in some new ones, and smear a bit of goo on them (I've been told its not 100% necessary but i like to be safe:)) and then put the rocker cover back on and tension all the bolts back up etc.

someone confirm this is right :P

Well if the fronts are leaking its probable that the rears have or are about to have the same problem - which means removing the plenum chamber. You also have to remove the front upper part of the timing belt cover, and loosen the back part, to remove the rocker covers.

Its not uncommon around the 100,000 mark or if the car is 5 years old or more - the seals are quite soft rubber so that they can be fitted without gasket cement. But over time, they harden, and so gradually lose their ability to seal. You can do it yourself, may want to think about doing all your spark plugs while you're at it, and or the leads and distributor cap and rotor.

Part numbers:

MD198128 Seal-Cyl Head Spark Plug: $11.84 each NOT including GST (you need 6 of these)
MD321352 Gasket-Rocker Cover: $24.73 each NOT including GST (you need 2 of these)

LOOK at a manual before you do this - most of the bolts involved are into alloy and are very low torque (tightness). The Rocker cover gasket bolts are especially low - 3-4NM which is just firm, barely tight.
