Ok, so i did a bit of a search but to no avail, mainly cos i had not idea what to search :nuts:

anyway, one of my tweeters is stuffed, when it hitrs a certain frequency is make a horrid noise likethe membrane is ripped or something and its giving me the poos.

the set up i run is DVD player into alpine V-power 4 channel amp that feeds the 4 speakers. the speaker that has popped is the tweeter from a set of alpine s-series splits (front right).

now, i have checked all the wires and all that they are fine so i think its simply that it has failed which is kinda sucky cos the speakers rarely work anywhere near their capability.

my question is this... what the hell can i do now? i mean do i have to fork over the $250 for a whole new set of speakers or is there a way of getting a replacement tweeter for them. i have half considered using the oppertunity to get some R-series splits but the wallet is looking a bit thin, esspecially seeing as im off to that clearance house that just opened up in Adelaide :D

thoughts?

what brand/model are the splits?

edit: just saw alpine s-series

you're best of checking the website for replacement tweeters, last resort contacting Alpine sales themselves

or best option, replace with brand new tweeters:

if your going to get those tweeters you need to make sure that the wattage and fq's are the same as the crossover

they come with their own crossover so i will use that i think. going to be a pain in the **** getting the other ones out but i think that it would be better than using the old ones
