Picked myself up a TF manual magna as a complete car at a really good price, and want to try and do the conversion of my auto magna myself for the satisfaction and saving dollars. Would really appreciate the names of anyone who has personally done this and could give me a few pointers.

Cheers.

Got the car for $450. Would you recommend doing it or paying someone? Like I said, i have a complete car with everything I will need. Would I need a hoist? Can i do on with the car up on stands? 2 man job? Will i need specialist tools? Any traps or tricks you found?

a hoist would be the best way to go....definately 2 man job....only thing you would really need would be a clutch aligning tool.... mine went in easy as... had no probs at all installed mine in march

Don't have access to a hoist unfortunately. Have a mate though. Would Supercheap sell a clutch aligning tool? Would greatly appreciate those pics 91ows.A "how to" sticky thread would be great!

you don't need a hoist or a clutch aligning tool if you know what you are doing, if you can't align a clutch by feel then i would suggest you leave the whole conversion to a professional.

i did eaglerock18's manual conversion using 2 jack stands and help from a mate for the lifting/aligning of the gearbox onto the dowles.

make sure you remember to change the sandwich plate (big steel plate that goes between the motor and gearbox) or you won't be able to get your starter motor in with the manual.

Ok, getting all that. I have a workshop manual, for the car but sometimes they don't speak in easy to understand terms. Appreciate any and all tips and advice. Saw two ratchet jack axel stands for sale at repco for $40 for two. Would I need four of these? two for the front and two for the rear axels? Thanks.
