The price of fuel *phew* enough said... Anyway, the question I have is whether it's possible for the fuel gauge on my 1990 TP Magna Elite to be giving me the wrong reading. It's a digital display not a needle gauge.

(Here's to hoping fuel prices don't go any further through the freaking roof in the next six months.)

Cheers :)

Quite possible.. could be faulty fuel sender unit or possibly faulty instrument cluster. I have a TP and its an analogue guage, and it tends to read 1/4 lower than it usually is.. when i fill it right up it sits on 3/4 and never goes higher than that and sits way below empty for a while.

Possible resolutions: replace fuel sender unit or get instrument cluser re-calibrated.

haha yeah the fuel guage on my old TP with the analogue was real crap... when full it read half, then after the tank was about half full it dropped to empty...

but on the one I have atm (electronic like yours probs), the fuel guage has been fine...

but yeah... what he said prertty much ^^

Yeah, two bars left on the guage has me walking to the servo. The digitals tend to be out on occasion.

my fuel guage reads a little higher than it actually is.

a full tank sits well over the full mark and if i run out of fuel its right on the empty line.

lolbut thats my fault i played with the instrument clusters one day:nuts:

i never ran out of fuel until i put my gauge out of whack. but i no how low i can let it go now. lol

I run mine down to 1 bar most the time haha, cos I only fill up on wednesday mornings when its cheapest haha stingy me... but yeah, I have run it on 1 bar for a fair while altho I know one day Im gonna get caught... And I know its not good for the car running it that low reall... recently I havent been using as much petrol... only bout 1/2-2/3 a tank a week so Its been ok haha :P

Digital dashes have an 0-bar as well. When none light up, it's less than 6 litres left. And worth getting to a servo.

Fixed my sender, need to run it low to see what gives. Have fuel can just in case!
