Hey Guys,

Just a quick question, how much should I be paying for a colour coding (TH Exec).

This includes:

- Skirts
- Mirrors
- Pinstripes
- Door handles

I checked a smash repaired who quoted $650.00 for coluor coding, then 350 for the front bumper, totaling $1000.

Also, a couple more things I need to know expected costs for:

- Rear bumper driver side scuff mark repair
- Front bumper full respray

Cheers,
Dean

Well I'm getting most of mine resprayed eventually, and I've been quoted $800 for front bar, bonnet, roof, boot and mirrors, so $1k is hardly reasonable, based on my panel shop, should be around $200 for the front bar, $150 for the mirrors, maybe another $150 for the skirts, $500-600 total I'd imagine at most.

they will most probably paint your whole front and rear bars..... depending on stone chips and scratches will generally determine the price.... i myself charge $120 just to paint a std bar.... colour coding is about $450.... rear bar $120

Just for comparison.....
A DIY whole car colour change respray will cost you $300!!
Go buy a compressor and gun, and start practising - you wont regret it.

SUPERCHEAP - compressor $95, gun $25

Being that i sell those compressors for a living you really really really dont want to even attempt to high pressure spray paint with the 2hp compressor not only is the tank size not big enough the duty cycle on that unit is only 25% which is for every 2.5min running needs 7.5min cooldown, you will burn it out faster then you can paint.

You could also buy premixed pressure pack cans from an auto shop which is what BJ31OS did, and from the photos he posted, the results of his colour coding looked good.

take off all the parts yourself and clean them up, ready for paint, they will charge you less for labour, thats what i did. side skirts are a b*tch as they leave that sticky double sided tape residue behind,
EDIT: lol if you use a heat gun, even tho it makes your work 1000X easier to get the gunk off, dont get too eager as i melted part of my external trimming, they dont like heat very much

Funny, mine is ok - being used on second car last/next weekend.
Planning to junk it after that though.

Yeah I don't know what you're on about dude, I used my 2HP compressor for spraypainting with no drama at all, pressure didn't drop to the point it needed to recompress very often at all...

Yeah, like what Lucifer said.

imo 40-60psi spraying isnt too bad with a 2HP comp. its when you start to do 90-110psi duties that they spoon themselves quickly.
