How do the TL and TW differ. Seems they are the same mechanically and only differ in the trim and add-ons. My interest is in the differnces in fuel economy, handling and performance, plus safety. Trying to suss out whether it is worth looking for a TW rather than TL.

one difference i noticed...
is the TW has a mount for the front numberplate...
that stops the numberplate havinng to be bent in a curve to match the bumper in the TL / KL.

i think the TW was just a minor facelift in regards to trim - it got different trim, but AFAIK same driveline as the TL.
so similar / same fuel econ figures.

oh - TW got colour inserts for the headlights too - white, silver and black i think where the colours that where avail - im sure someone will correct me on that one tho.

if you have a choice between a TL and a TW to buy, go the TW - as its a newer car still, even if its only by a year or two..

The Light inserts are the same colour as the car, thanks doddski.
The seriesII badging, nothing mechanical.
5 year Warranty from late Dec 04. (21st maybe).

Not sure trim details.

Wikipedia has a great history of the Magna.

TW:
Introduction
Mitsubishi's Magna range and the Verada sibling will be referred to as 'Series II' in the company's external promotions, but within the company the new Magna is the TW model and Verada is the KW. Series II is a minor cosmetic upgrade and model rationalization plan to cap what the company had already begun with the last of the superseded TL and KL models. With the new range, Mitsubishi has combined the FWD Verada GTVi and the Verada AWD to create a new model, the Verada GTVi AWD 'QuadTec' which, despite the additional drivetrain components, remains priced at the same level as the FWD Verada GTVi. In respect of the Magna, the LS FWD sedan has been discontinued and the Magna LS name is now applied to the former Magna AWD model. The LS grade continues as a wagon in FWD form. All models benefit from revised interior trim and changes to the exterior styling. There are no changes to pricing.Exterior
Features to distinguish the TW/KW models from their predecessors include body-colour headlight bezels, plastic registration plate frames and a Series II badge on the driver's side rear. Specific features include body-colour side protection strips (LS/LS AWD), body-colour mirrors (LS AWD), body-colour upper grille and silver engine-cooling duct insert (VR-X/VR-X AWD). Verada models are fitted with larger front and rear bumpers, and black grille with chrome shell (Ei & Xi) or argent grille with chrome shell (GTVi AWD). High-contrast tail light lenses and chrome headlights are specified for the GTVi AWD. Wheels: 16" alloys in 'Sparkle Silver' (LS AWD), Six-spoke 16" alloys in 'Sparkle Silver' (VR-X AWD) Ten-spoke 16" alloys in 'Sparkle Silver' (Verada Ei) Seven-spoke 16" alloys in 'Sparkle Silver' (Verada GTVi AWD) Multi-spoke 16" alloys in 'Sparkle Silver' (Verada Xi)Interior
Beige has been dropped as an interior colour and was only previous available as a cloth trim for the Magna variants. Other changes for the Magnas can be summarised as a revised instrument cluster, new trim colours and patterns, wider seat inserts (N/A ES grade), adoption of black leather steering wheel rim (VR-X & VR-X AWD only), leather handbrake lever for the VR-X AWD and Verada Ei/GTVi AWD, eight-speaker audio with front map lights and front door exit lights (LS AWD), coat hook above the rear passenger side door (all models) and steering audio controls for the Verada GTVi AWD.

Nah, copy and paste from Carsales.com.au. Hover the mouse over the research cars
menu button and then select research cars.

The easiest way to distinguish KL and KW is the side reflectors (front and rear) on the KWs
and then the extended front and rear bumpers.

Good pick up on the comparative differences. I think I like the KL from the side on view but then again I always loved the extended bumpers on the previous model Verada's and in the flesh the KW's aren't bad.

i love the extended rear bumper only (not too fused on the front bar extension) on the KW - have you seen a front bumper of a KW up close with the extension?
(IMO) its not nearly as nice as the nose/bumper on the KL - the surround the chrome verticle grill (hope you know what im talking about) is extended at the bottom to blend into the extended bumper, and it just doesnt look as smooth up close to the car...

(i plan on getting a KW rear bar for my car, and leaving the KL front bar on as i think it will look good :) )

There was no AWD manual, so if you want an AWD, this would be a good option.
